Artina 2021: Balancing Acts is the latest sculpture exhibit hosted jointly by the Washington Sculptors Group and Sandy Spring Museum.
Artina will be on display on the grounds of the Sandy Spring Museum from August 4 through November 6.
Sculpture in Honor of Dominique Dawes Being Commissioned
Montgomery County Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz will hold a virtual press conference this morning to announce a sculpture being commissioned in honor of three-time Olympian Dominique Dawes. Dawes is from Silver Spring and won gold at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

New Mural at Gaithersburg Skate Park
Eric Karbeling, a 2008 Gaithersburg High School graduate, is putting the finishing touches on a new mural at the Gaithersburg Skate Park (510 S Frederick Ave). The art project is expected to be finished June 11.

Councilmember Evan Glass has announced a series of LGBTQ+ Pride Month events happening throughout June. They include a “Puppy Pride” event at Bark Social in Pike & Rose and a MoCo Pride Drag Brunch.
Beyond MoCo: Maryland Renaissance Festival Returns This Year
The Maryland Renaissance Festival, which takes places annually at 1821 Crownsville Rd in Annapolis, will be back this year for their 45th season after last year’s event was cancelled.
Elder Pine Brewing Company at 4200 Sundown Rd in Gaithersburg is collaborating with the students of the Maryland Institute College of Art / Rinehart School of Sculpture in Baltimore to host a sculpture exhibit titled “To Sprout, To Share, To Sing” now through August 19th.
The brewery is providing an opportunity for the students to showcase their work given the lack of exhibition opportunities this year due to COVID-19.
