Laytonsville Independence Day Celebration With View of Fireworks on July 3rd

The Family Room Laytonsville will be hosting “The Fourth at the Family Room”’on Monday, July 3rd. Nearby Montgomery Country Club will be setting off their fireworks on Monday, July 3rd and the display can be seen from the parking lot of The Family Room (6820 Olney Laytonsville Rd), featuring “The Best Burger in the DMV” Steeze Burger.

The fireworks display begins at 9:15pm, but it is advised to arrive early to secure your spot. Per The Family Room: “We will be open late on July 3rd for ice cream, Steezeburgers and local fireworks. @steeze.burger will be serving burgers starting at 5p until they sellout! 🍔 We will also have live music from local artist @katekeeleymusic starting at 6:30p! Grab dinner, dessert and enjoy live music and fireworks with us at The Family Room!” Additional events across the county that include fireworks can be seen here.

Montgomery Parks to Host Spanish-Language Comedy Show This July

Montgomery Parks is hosting “Espectáculo de comediá en español” (Spanish Comedy Show), a free Spanish-language comedy show on Thursday, July 6, at Flower Avenue Urban Park. The event is appropriate for ages 13 and older and is part of the Parks Playhouse series. Five nationally recognized Spanish-speaking comedians (Che Guerrero, Carmen Lynch, Pedro Gonzalez, Elena Torres, and Jepherson Guevara) will take the stage and perform their stand-up routines that will touch on relatable topics such as family, relationships, inheritance and how to navigate life.

Situational Awareness: Private Fireworks Display in Bethesda Tonight

A private fireworks display will take place at Kenwood Country Club, located at 5601 River Rd in Bethesda. According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the club is hosting a ‘private/permitted event’ which will include a fireworks display & aerial explosions starting at approximately 930pm. The display is scheduled to last approximately 30 minutes. While the event is private, the fireworks will be visible in the surrounding area.

Major Traffic Advisory in Gaithersburg on Saturday, July 1st

This Saturday, July 1 is the City of Gaithersburg Government SummerFest event at Bohrer Park. Please note that starting at 5PM, there will be lane reductions along South Frederick Avenue (Route 355) adjacent to Bohrer Park and there will be a change in traffic patterns for the event.

Vehicles will not be allowed to cross over or turn left onto South Frederick Avenue (Route 355) between Cedar and Central Avenues. Plan your route accordingly. If you are not attending the festival, please take alternate routes to avoid the area completely.

‘International Colombian Festival of Washington DC’ Takes Place This July

The 7th edition of the International Colombian Festival of Washington DC will take place on Saturday, July 22nd 2022, from 11:00AM at 8:00PM at Catholic University (University Garage, 3598 John McCormack Rd NE, DC 20310).

Last year’s festival included over 5,000 spectators in attendance and a large turnout is expected again this year. The festival will include “food, folklore, dance, art and tradition.” Organizers Go Columbia LLC say “This year, we have MEXICO as a guest country and we are anxiously looking forward to even greater success. In the past, we have counted with the participation of well-renowned artists and recipients of Grammy awards, and this year we are not expecting less as we are pushing for unique.”

Wheaton Mall to Offer Complimentary Parking/Shuttles For the “Mid-County Sparkles” Independence Day Celebration

Mid-County Sparkles, one of Montgomery County’s Independence Day celebrations, will take place on Saturday, July 1st. Live music begins at 6 pm and fireworks begin at 9:15 pm. No alcohol or pets are permitted. Time is approximate and may change due to weather and additional information will be available closer to the event date. This event will be held at Newport Mill Local Park.

For over 25 years, The Bethesda Country Club has hosted its fireworks display event for its members.  The fireworks display begins at sundown (around 9pm) for roughly 25 minutes on Sunday, June 25, 2023 (rain date will be on Monday, June 26 2023).

Bethesda Country Club is located at 7601 Bradley Blvd and the display will be visible in the surrounding area. “This is a private event for our members and their guests, however for those who live nearby, all you need to do is look up and enjoy an exciting and beautiful show!”

31st National Capital Barbecue Battle Takes Place June 24 and 25

Now in its 31st year, the Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle continues to be a fan favorite with DC area residents and tourists alike. The Giant BBQ Battle will take place on Saturday, June 24 (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and Sunday, June 25, 2023 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) on Pennsylvania Avenue, between 3rd and 7th Street, NW, Washington, DC.

In 2023, Festival goers will have the opportunity to experience all things BBQ as Pennsylvania Avenue will become the epicenter of BBQ pork-fection.
