PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans is continuing progress on its second Montgomery County location, sharing a photo of its interior construction on February 17 with the caption, “Gaithersburg, progress is happening. Fish Taco has expanded the space for its upcoming Gaithersburg location, pushing the front wall closer to the street as construction continues ahead of a planned opening this spring.

Signage for the popular local restaurant went up last year at The Shops of Potomac Valley, located at 12121 Darnestown Road. A representative for the family owned business previously confirmed the Gaithersburg restaurant is targeting a spring opening.


Minds in Motion Child Care, the largest Black owned child care business in Montgomery County, will host a free Black History Month celebration on Friday, February 20, from 7pm to 9pm at Watkins Mill High School in Montgomery Village. The community wide event will feature a headline performance by nationally acclaimed step troupe Step Afrika!, along with free dinner for all attendees.

Gaithersburg Police Chief Mark Sroka will retire after 16 years with the City of Gaithersburg Police Department effective March 6, 2026. Chief Sroka was presented with a proclamation proclaiming March 6 as “Police Chief Mark Sroka Day” in the City of Gaithersburg, recognizing his service and dedication to law enforcement and his significant contributions to the Gaithersburg Police Department. The proclamation was presented during the February 17 Mayor and City Council meeting.
