Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested a suspect wanted for a homicide that occurred on Thursday, February 16, 2023, in the 19000 block of Mills Choice Rd. At approximately 12:09 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the location for a check the welfare call.  Upon arrival, officers located 41-year-old Louis James Chesley, of Montgomery Village, deceased with apparent trauma to the body. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to officially determine the cause and manner of death.

The suspect, 35-year-old William Oligiwan Cutler was arrested the afternoon of Friday, February 17, in Gaithersburg. Cutler has no known address. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a collision that led to an overturned vehicle on W Diamond Avenue near Bureau Drive in Gaithersburg at approximately 4:30pm on Friday afternoon.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, crews two adults were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Gaithersburg police put out a traffic alert at 5:28 announcing the closure of westbound W Diamond Avenue and alerts drivers to expect significant delays. Per the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office: In the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable Karla Smith, a jury has found defendant, Adin Huezo Grandados, 28, of Leesburg, VA, guilty of Sexual Solicitation of a Minor. The jury returned the verdict this week, on Wednesday, February 15th.

Huezo communicated with what he thought was a 15-year-old female through a social media profile created by an undercover officer with the Montgomery County Police Vice & Intelligence Unit and was arrested on June 17, 2022 when he arrived at a planned meeting place in a shopping center across from a Montgomery County public high school. He believed the “female” he would meet was a student at the school.


Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a commercial armed robbery and attempted sexual assault that occurred on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the Claire’s in the 500 block of North Frederick Avenue. Detectives have released surveillance photos of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

The investigation by detectives has revealed that the suspect entered the store and approached the counter. After briefly chatting with the victim, the suspect stated he had a gun and demanded that the victim open the register. When the victim refused to comply, the suspect walked behind the victim and placed her in a chokehold. The victim complied and the suspect took an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect stated he had a gun, took the victim to the bathroom and attempted to sexually assault the victim.  When the victim refused to comply, the suspect hit her in the head multiple times before fleeing the store.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a fire reported in the bedroom of a two story, middle-of-the-row townhouse on Club Lake Rd in Montgomery Village at approximately 9:30pm on Thursday night (video below). The cause of the fire has been determined to be unattended incense burning which ignited curtains.

MBW and Haris Design and Construction Co. submitted Concept Site Plan application (SP-9149-2021) on December 16, 2021, to demolish the buildings located at 9, 11, and 15 Park Avenue and 201 Brookes Avenue in Gaithersburg in anticipation of redevelopment into a pair of multifamily buildings totaling 180 units with 2,217 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. The building at the intersection of Park and Brookes Avenues will stand four (4) stories tall, and the building to the south along Park Avenue will stand five (5) stories tall. A City-owned alley extends between the two (2) buildings (photos below).

The HDC provided a nonbinding courtesy review of the Concept Site Plan (SP-9149-2021) at its October 26 meeting. The Planning Commission deferred the Concept Site Plan at its December 7 meeting. The revised plan is tentatively scheduled to return to the Planning Commission on May 3.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a fire reported in the bedroom of a two story, middle-of-the-row townhouse on Club Lake Rd in Montgomery Village at approximately 9:30pm on Thursday night (video below).

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, all occupants were able to get out as heavy smoke was showing upon the arrival of multiple crews. The fire extended to the roof and attic before the bulk of it was knocked out by approximately 9:55pm. There was little to no extension to neighboring/adjacent townhomes and no injuries were reported. Approximately $325K in damage and three adults have been displaced. A cat is also missing.


Isaac’s Poultry Market at 12167 Darnestown Rd in Gaithersburg, the former site of Pizza Hut, will officially open on Thursday, February 23. The restaurant is being opened by Rob Gresham, a lifelong MoCo resident and the former Director of Operations at CAVA. The restaurant will feature American roasted chicken, wings, sandwiches, and salads. You can view the full menu here.

Gresham tells us that everything they sell will be made from scratch and that the menu will feature plenty of healthy options. Isaac’s will also feature frozen custards, slushies, juice, and a variety of baked goods and desserts.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a collision with rollover that occurred shortly before 1:30pm on Midcounty Highway and Woodfield Rd in Gaithersburg on Wednesday afternoon.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, a total of three people were trapped inside the two vehicles involved in the collision upon arrival onto the scene. All patients were extricated and were transported to the hospital after suffering non-life threatening injuries. The crash temporarily blocked multiple lanes, but has since been cleared.
