Limited, a vaccine business subsidiary of Korea-based SK Group, today announced that South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has approved a Biologics License Application (BLA) from SK bioscience for Nuvaxovid™ COVID-19 Vaccine (recombinant, adjuvanted) for active immunization in individuals 18 years of age and older for the prevention of COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2. Nuvaxovid™, Novavax’ COVID-19 vaccine also known as NVX-CoV2373, is the first protein-based COVID-19 vaccine to be approved for commercial use in South Korea and will be manufactured and marketed in the country by SK bioscience.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a townhouse fire on the 300blk of W Deer Park Rd in Gaithersburg on Wednesday morning around 3am.

Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer reports that up to 20 people from six different townhouse units are displaced.


To help ensure the health and safety of our patrons, performers and staff, effective immediately the City of Gaithersburg will require a photo ID & proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 to attend all indoor performances at the Arts Barn & Kentlands Mansion. Unvaccinated children under 12 years of age & patrons with a medical condition or closely-held religious belief preventing vaccination must provide proof of a negative PCR test conducted no more than 72 hours prior to the performance. Digital or printed copies of vaccination cards & negative PCR tests will be accepted. Please note that this policy is subject to change pending Montgomery County Board of Health vaccination requirement regulations currently under consideration.

At their meeting on Monday, January 3, 2022, the Mayor & City Council conducted a public hearing and then enacted emergency legislation to limit residential rent increases due to the impact of COVID-19. By a vote of 3 to 2, the elected officials amended Chapter 13 of the City Code, “Landlord-Tenant Relations,” to prohibit residential rent increases in excess of Montgomery County’s Voluntary Rent Guideline & prohibit notices of residential rent increase in excess of Montgomery County’s Voluntary Rent Guideline prior to May 15, 2022.

Novavax expects to submit a request for EUA for the vaccine in the U.S. in one month in accordance with guidance from the FDA regarding submission of all EUA vaccines.

A truck started leaking carbon dioxide after a fitting broke causing a hazmat situation near Robert’s Oxygen on Railroad Avenue & Oakmont Ave in Washington Grove, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Peringer.

CSX railroad traffic was temporarily stopped in both directions and some local roads were closed in the area.


A driver in a SUV struck an apartment building at 501B S. Frederick Ave in Gaithersburg on Thursday afternoon around 3:30pm, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer.

MCFRS and Gaithersburg police are currently at the scene. There appears to be no structural damage to the building and no injuries reported.
