On Thursday, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich issued a statement in response to the Trump Administration’s designation of the County as a “sanctuary jurisdiction,” reaffirming that the county is not in violation of federal law and will not alter its policies based on political pressure. Elrich emphasized that the County will continue cooperating with federal immigration authorities in cases involving violent crimes and threats to public safety, while rejecting efforts to criminalize immigrants or divide the community. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) safely tranquilized and relocated a young male black bear from a tree in Langley Park (though the agency referred to the area as Silver Spring) on Memorial Day, after tracking its movement through Baltimore and Howard counties, and fitted it with a collar as part of a population study. The Big Idaho® Potato Truck is currently on its 13th cross-country journey. It began in 2012 as a one-year campaign to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Idaho Potato Commission and became quickly apparent with its success that it would be more than a one-year occurrence, it literally became a big piece of pop-culture. Currently, it’s in Ocean City, MD with its next stop in Norfolk, VA.
