In 2023, the Washington Post ranked Steeze Burger as the #1 burger in the DMV. Laytonsville resident Hunter Karametos, founder of Steeze Burger, launched the pop-up burger business in 2022 after spending nearly a year sampling over 150 different burgers for research. Currently, he’s enjoying one burger a day throughout May (National Burger Month) and shares a few words about three of his favorite local burgers below:

According to the Frederick Police Department, several groups held peaceful demonstrations in Frederick on Thursday evening, but one group escalated into violence, assaulting police officers and damaging property near Fourth and N. Market Streets. Four individuals were arrested and face multiple charges, including assault on law enforcement officers. (more…)


The City of Bowie, MD will lose Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor after the 2025 season, as Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced plans to close the parks and market the 500-acre property for redevelopment. In a news release, the company cited a strategic realignment of its portfolio and has engaged CBRE to oversee the sale, with all 2025 tickets and passes still valid for the final season. (more…)


The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) is implementing changes to nontidal fishing license and trout stamp fees effective June 1, 2025. This represents the first adjustment to nontidal–or freshwater fishing–fees in almost 20 years, addressing the rising costs of maintaining conservation efforts and angler programs in the face of inflation.
