Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that a Baltimore County Grand Jury has issued a third indictment against Michael C. Okolo, 68, of Parkville, Maryland, for allegedly misusing $100,000 intended for a real estate investment. Okolo, previously indicted for theft and insurance fraud, is accused of misappropriating client funds for personal and business expenses, with trials scheduled for June 12, 2025, and an initial court appearance for the latest case set for April 14, 2025.

Cheryl Leigh Gray, 50, of Middletown, Maryland, was sentenced to five years of incarceration, with all but 60 days suspended, and ordered to pay $65,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to felony theft. Gray, previously convicted in a separate theft case, admitted to stealing $65,000 from a friend by falsely claiming she needed the money for medical treatment, when in reality, she used it to pay court-ordered restitution.

Earlier this month, we reported that celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was filming a television series, possibly Kitchen Nightmares or a similar show, at Callahan’s Seafood Bar & Grill (1808 Rosemont Ave.) in Frederick. The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Cold Case Unit charged 82-year-old Rodger Zodas Brown with the 1979 murder of Kathryn Donohue in Glenarden, MD, following advancements in forensic genetic genealogy. Brown, who lived in Hyattsville at the time of the crime, was arrested in North Carolina and faces extradition to Prince George’s County on charges of first-degree murder, rape, and related offenses. Maryland State Police arrested Harriet Penniman Van Kleeck, 63, of Towson, MD, for suspected impaired driving after she struck a state trooper’s patrol vehicle on I-695. The trooper, who was inside the vehicle with emergency lights activated, was taken to a hospital and later released, while the investigation remains ongoing.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that Aqua Vision Care, LLC agreed to pay $143,336 to resolve allegations of submitting false Medicaid claims for vision services not provided. The settlement includes $71,668 in restitution for unprovided services and a $71,668 civil penalty.
