On Tuesday, Governor Wes Moore held the second bill signing ceremony of 2025, enacting several measures including the Expungement Reform Act, Second Look Act, and Protect Our Federal Workers Act. Unibal-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) has defaulted on a roughly $235 million securitized loan tied to Westfield Wheaton– the largest mall in suburban Maryland and the fourth-largest in the Greater Washington area. The mall was originally built in 1958 and was known as Wheaton Plaza– the first shopping mall in Montgomery County.

The Maryland Park Service has announced that it will temporarily close Greenbrier State Park, the home of “Maryland’s Secret Beach” from May 5-9 as contractors repave the entrance road as part of ongoing upgrades to the park’s front entrance and contact station. These upgrades will help reduce traffic backups on busy weekends and holidays.

Per the State of Maryland: “Governor Wes Moore today announced that the U.S. flag and the Maryland flag will be lowered to half staff immediately to honor the life and service of His Holiness Pope Francis. The flags will remain at half staff until sunset on the day of interment, which is not yet known. (more…)
