Governor Wes Moore has urged Marylanders to avoid non-essential travel during the ongoing winter storm to allow highway crews to clear roads, emphasized the importance of safety amid bitter cold temperatures and low wind chills, and highlighted coordinated state agency responses, including emergency operations, snow removal, and support for vulnerable populations. According to Maryland Lottery and Gaming, Maryland’s six casinos combined to generate $164,105,250 in revenue from slot machines and table games during December 2024, a decrease of $1,523,913 (-0.9%) compared to December 2023. Casino gaming contributions to the state during December 2024 totaled $69,837,949, a decrease of $357,058 (-0.5%) compared to December 2023. The December 2024 contributions included $50,413,308 to the Education Trust Fund, a decrease of $247,243 (-0.5%) compared to December 2023. (more…)
Per the latest map by the National Weather Service (NWS), an additional 1-2” or 1-3” is expected to fall this afternoon into tonight. The map shows expected snowfall from 1pm Monday until 7am Tuesday, but the precipitation is expected to move out of the area late tonight.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has potential snow totals yet again as we move closer to the start of storm– currently expected to begin between 9pm-11pm tonight.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 10pm Sunday until 1am Tuesday morning and we’ll take a look at the most recent snow maps we can find from each of the local major network affiliates.

The National Weather Service has expanded the Winter Storm Warning to now include almost all of Maryland and all of Northern Virginia. It goes in effect at 10pm tonight (Sunday) and lasts until 1am Tuesday morning.
