On Friday, Governor Wes Moore and Maryland’s congressional delegation announced the expansion of the Maryland Defense Technology Commercialization Center (DefTech) through a $585,463 Department of Defense grant and state matching funds, aiming to support 30 startups and small businesses in leveraging federal resources for technology commercialization.

Governor Wes Moore has commented on the ban of beer and wine sales in Maryland grocery stores, “Maryland is one of only states in the nation that bans the sale of beer and wine in grocery stores – it’s time for a change. Lifting this ban puts people first and makes us more competitive. I look forward to working with our legislative partners to pass this overdue change.”
Former Maryland state employee Shanell Angelia West was sentenced to 18 months in jail and five years of probation for felony theft and insurance fraud, involving the embezzlement of state funds and filing a false insurance claim after her termination. (more…)

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, located at 785 Rockville Pike, Suite G, in the Ritchie Center in Rockville, has announced its grand opening weekend will take place January 3 to January 6. The restaurant will occupy the space previously home to Superbowl Noodle House, which closed permanently in March. As part of the celebration, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue will raffle off a free iPhone 16.
