Did you know that the first ice cream on the continent was served in Maryland in 1744 when Governor Thomas Bladen served up the sweet, creamy treat? The flavor was strawberry. The first commercial sales of ice cream were also in Maryland when a Baltimore milkman by the name of Jacob Fussell began the commercial selling of ice cream in the state back in 1851 (courtesy of Visit Maryland).

Many here in Montgomery County have enjoyed some aspect of The Maryland SoccerPlex since it opened nearly 25 years ago. The SoccerPlex is a 24-field complex that welcomes more than 1 million visitors a year. Opened in 2000, the Maryland SoccerPlex was built with a public-private partnership between the Maryland Soccer Foundation and the Maryland National-Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) and is located at 18031 Central Park Circle in Boyds, MD.
With the Fourth of July approaching, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2024’s Most Patriotic States in America, to determine where Americans have the most red, white and blue pride. Maryland came in as the 9th “Most Patriotic State.”
