GoFundMe, the world’s largest fundraising platform, has announced that Silver Spring, MD was the third most generous city for supporting individuals, causes, and organizations in 2023.
Update: According to Maryland State Police, “At around 7:15pm last night in the area of NB 270, north of Watkins Mill Road, troopers responded to a crash that injured a Rockville Barrack trooper. Preliminary investigation indicates he was in his marked patrol vehicle with his emergency equipment activated, responding to assist another trooper who was investigating a suspected DUI crash. The trooper was struck by a Toyota Sequoia SUV while attempting to make a U-turn at the center median emergency crossover. The driver of the Sequoia was not injured. The trooper was transported to Suburban Hospital.” (more…)
The Big Dill, which describes itself as the “#1 Pickle Party in the World”, returns to Power Plant Live! at 34 Market Pl in Baltimore on September 21. In past years the event has included pickle sampling, concerts, carnival games, a pickle eating contest, a brine chugging competition, and an appearance by “Dilly” the pickle. Items available to purchase have included pickle flavored cupcakes, donuts, fudge, ice cream, and pizza.

The Office of Governor Wes Moore issued the following news release on Thursday, May 23: “Governor Wes Moore today announced $1.75 million in tax credits for nonprofit organizations through the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development’s Community Investment Tax Credit program.
