The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is reminding residents that, as of Tuesday, July 1, drivers are prohibited from making right turns at red traffic signals in designated downtown and town center areas across the county. Brown joined a coalition of 20 attorneys general in filing an amicus brief challenging a new DHS policy that mandates indefinite detention of many undocumented immigrants without bond hearings, arguing it violates due process, federal law, and harms families, communities, and state economies. In October, we reported that Zaxbys was entering the Maryland market with three locations along the Eastern Shore. Then, this past spring, Zaxbys announced that it’s planning to open four additional restaurants across Baltimore and Howard counties. Now, Biz Journals reports that the Prince George’s County Planning Board approved the county’s first Zaxby’s location.

The Maryland Office of the Comptroller reported that the state collected over $18.4 million in cannabis sales tax revenue between April and June 2025, with the largest share coming from the Central Region, and noted that the tax rate increased from 9% to 12% on July 1, 2025, under the Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act. It has now been 20 years since Tristan Courtland Turner disappeared, and his case remains unsolved. Turner, who was 22 at the time, was last seen on August 20, 2005, leaving his home in Montgomery Village, Maryland, to travel to Baltimore. He never returned and has not been heard from since. At the time of his disappearance, Turner was driving a borrowed black 2002 Honda Civic Del Sol with Maryland license plates.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), more than 200 “No Turn on Red” signs have recently been installed across Montgomery County as part of the Safe Streets Act of 2023 (MC Bill 11-23). The measure requires MCDOT to add the signs to designated traffic lights unless a safety risk is identified. (more…)
