Attorney General Anthony G. Brown joined a coalition of 23 states in filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration challenging a provision in the recently passed budget reconciliation law that blocks Medicaid funding for services provided by Planned Parenthood, arguing it is unconstitutional and would negatively impact public health and increase state healthcare costs.

Dolan Uyghur Cuisine, a highly anticipated addition to the Montgomery County dining scene since we shared the news a few weeks back, is set to hold its soft opening on Tuesday, August 5th. The restaurant, which specializes in authentic Uyghur dishes from Central Asia, will be located at 20-A Maryland Ave in Rockville, within The Square at Rockville, in the space formerly occupied by Kung Fu Kitchen and Peter Chang Rockville.
Attorney General Anthony G. Brown and a coalition of 20 attorneys general and the Governor of Kentucky filed a lawsuit challenging the USDA’s demand for states to share personal data of SNAP recipients, arguing it violates federal privacy laws and constitutional protections.

Maryland’s all-you-can-eat pizza landscape has seen its final Cici’s slice disappear with the recent closure of the Frederick location at 5010 Buckeystown Pike. This marks the complete departure of the popular pizza buffet chain, according to the Cici’s Pizza website. The Frederick location’s phone number is no longer in service, and the restaurant is marked as closed on Google and Yelp. Additionally, it has been removed from the corporate website.
Montgomery County based Team Senshi Karate earned an impressive 15 national medals: 3 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze at the 2025 USA National Karate Championships, held July 9–13 in Fort Worth, Texas. They were the only team from Maryland to compete at the event, which brought together over 3,000 top athletes from across the country.
