The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is honoring Rosa Parks’ legacy throughout December by placing special interior bus cards across its nearly 400 Ride On buses and designating a seat on each bus to commemorate her historic act of courage. According to Montgomery County, its FY24 Vision Zero report details a reduction in serious and fatal crashes, including a 28% decrease on high-injury network corridors, through initiatives such as new traffic signals, bikeways, sidewalks, and targeted enforcement.

The Maryland Department of Transportation will hold a public workshop on Nov. 14 at the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center in Silver Spring to discuss planned pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements along University Boulevard as part of the Pedestrian Safety Action Plan.

Per the news release: “The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will host a public informational workshop from 5:30–7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, regarding planned pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements along University Boulevard (MD 193) in Silver Spring.
