The Germantown Volunteer Fire Department and Montgomery County Police Department District 5 will be holding a joint event on Saturday, September 23 from 12pm-3pm at 20001 Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire on Wednesday afternoon in the 19000 blk of Montgomery Village Ave, near Centerway Rd. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, there was a small insulation fire on the roof of the upcoming Baskin Robbins in the Montgomery Village Shopping Center. The fire is out and there were no injuries reported.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving a car and a tractor trailer on Tuesday, September 19 around 5pm. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the incident occurred on northbound I-270 between Montgomery Village Ave and Watkins Mill Rd, prior to Middlebrook Rd. Two patients were evaluated with non-life threatening injuries. Only one lane of traffic gets by as of 5:47pm.


Earlier this morning, a gas leak was reported at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and University Blvd.  As of now, the following road closures are in effect:

Northbound New Hampshire Avenue is open for traffic. University Blvd. East heading into Prince George’s County is closed until further notice. The 1300 block of University Blvd. is also closed to all traffic.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire in the 9600blk of Shadow Oak Dr, near Arrowhead Rd., in Montgomery Village on Tuesday, September 19. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire originated in a small pile of trash in a 2nd floor bathroom of the two-story townhouse. Firefighters assisted several residents from the building and there were no injuries reported.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the Potomac River, in the area of Little Falls (near DC/MoCo border), for the report of a kayaker in distress on Sunday, September 17, around 3:15pm. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer on Twitter, “two dozen adults from an out-of-State College kayak group were boating, one adult female was caught/trapped/pinned under a rock (in hydraulics), passerby’s and others came to her aid prior to MCFRS arrival, unfortunately she did not survive.”  The incident is currently under investigation.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision with entrapment on Sandy Spring Rd and Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville on Sunday, September 17, around 1am.  According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, one adult was transported to the hospital with trauma. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Explosive Investigators are seeking information on multiple fires that occurred early Sunday morning in Gaithersburg. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, at 2:30am approximately 75 firefighters responded to the Holbrook Center (across from Gaitherburg High School) at 400blk S. Frederick Ave. near Education Blvd, for the report of a fire. Investigators indicated there were at least three separate fires, all suspicious in nature.

Around 3:15am, MCFRS units then responded to LaFrontera Restaurant at 3 Russell Ave in Gaithersburg. Several vehicles were on fire, which then spread to the building.  There were also several other “outside” fires reported in the area. A person of interest has been taken into custody. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a two-car collision on Saturday, September 16, in Montgomery Village. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the collision occurred on East Bound (EB) Montgomery Village Ave at Tall Oaks Road.  One person was evaluated for non-life threatening injuries. Expect residual delays.

Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Wednesday morning in Hillandale. According to police, “At approximately 4:12 a.m., on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of New Hampshire Avenue and Chalmers Road for the report of a pedestrian struck.
