Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision with entrapment on Tuesday, June 20, around 4pm. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the incident occurred near the intersection of Bonifant Road and Layhill Road in Layhill/Aspen Hill (Silver Spring). One patient has been extricated and EMS is transporting one adult with Priority2 trauma.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire in the 10000 blk of Trafalgar Sq, off King James Way, near Muddy Branch Rd in Gaithersburg around 4am on Monday, June 19. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire was located in a bedroom on the second floor of a townhome.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision around 11:00am on Sunday, June 18 in Montgomery Village. The incident occurred at the intersection of Goshen Rd and Stewartown Rd. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, two patients were evaluated by EMS. All lanes have reopened.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) and the Metro Transit Police Department responded to a call for a person on the tracks at the Rockville Metro Station at 250 Rockville Pike around 6:25pm on Saturday evening.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, rail traffic was shut down in both directions between the Rockville and Twinbrook stations. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a small fire at Hotel Silver Spring, located at 8727 Colesville Rd, on Saturday afternoon.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the fire occurred in a first floor kitchen and was contained/controlled/extinguished by the hotel’s sprinkler system. Upon arrival, there was little to no smoke left, but the building was evacuated. There were no injuries and the health inspector and code enforcement were notified.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a fire at a single family home on the 10800 block of Brickyard Ct., near Falls Rd., in Potomac at approximately 10:16pm on Wednesday night.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) were called to the scene of an apartment fire shortly after 11pm at The Henri apartment building, located at 11800 Grand Park Ave., off of Old Georgetown Rd., in Pike & Rose on Wednesday night.
The fire was reported on the 9th floor of the 16-story apartment and activated the sprinkler system. The cause was a grease fire in the kitchen, but the building’s sprinkler system was able to control the fire until firefighters arrived. There were no injuries reported, but some water damage on lower floors due to the sprinkler activation. Two of the three elevators in the building were out of service as of early Thursday morning due to water damage and several residents have been displaced.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services were called to the scene of a basement fire on the 700 block of Elm St., off of Ethan Allen Ave., in Takoma Park at approximately 11pm on Wednesday night.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, crews arrived to find a fire in the basement of a single family home and were able to knock down the bulk of the fire by 11:19pm. The fire was fully extinguished soon after and no injuries were reported. Three residents have been displaced and damage totaled to approximately $55K ($30K in contents and $25K was structural).
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a fire at a single family home on the 10800 block of Brickyard Ct., near Falls Rd., in Potomac at approximately 10:16pm on Wednesday night.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, approximately 65 firefighters were on the scene battling the heavy fire that was showing upon arrival. All occupants were able to get out safely, but the family of two adults, two children, and a guest, has been displaced. Damage is estimated to be at $2 million + and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
While directing traffic on scene of collision on Monday afternoon, a Montgomery County firefighter who was wearing protective safety equipment in a high visibility traffic vest was struck and dragged before the driver/car came to a stop, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Chief (MCFRS) Spokesperson Pete Piringer.
The injured firefighter was transported to the hospital, where he treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. The incident occurred on the 10000 block of Lewisdale Rd, near Urbana Rd, in Ijamsville. ‘It could have been worse, much worse,’ the injured firefighter said in a Firehouse News article.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire Monday morning around 4:30am on Village Gate Dr in Layhill. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire originated on the exterior of the single-family home’s garage and was likely caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.
Smoke alarms alerted the occupants of the home and there were no injuries reported. Four adults and three children have been displaced and damage is estimated to be ~$50K.
