Two collisions occurred on the inner and outer loops of I-495 in Silver Spring on Wednesday morning at approximately 6am, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Public Information Officer, Pete Piringer.

The first occurred on the outer loop of I-495 between the Georgia Avenue and Connecticut Avenue exits. It involved two vehicles and three patients were being evaluated for injuries. The second involved three vehicles and occurred around the same time on in the inner loop of I-495 between the Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road exits. Some lanes are blocked both ways.


At approximately 3pm on Tuesday afternoon, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a vehicle fire on the 5000 block of Damascus Road, near Griffith Road, in Damascus.

According to MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer,  crews arrived on the scene to a fire coming from two vehicles and were able to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries reported and no word on what caused the fire at the moment.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision late Sunday night in front of Fire Station 708 in Gaithersburg on Montgomery Village Ave and Russell Ave, according to Battalion Fire Chief James Carpenter.

The collision occurred at approximately 10:15pm and led to three patients being evaluated with non-life threatening injuries. One person was transported to the hospital following the collision. Additional photos below, per acting PIO James Carpenter.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a fire at the Twin Towers apartment complex on Fidler Lane and Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring a little after 2pm on Friday afternoon, according to MCFRS Public Information Officers Pete Piringer and James Carpenter.

Crews arrived at the 17-story residential building to find a fire on the 14th floor. According to Piringer, one adult patient is being evaluated as a priority 1 trauma patient with serious injuries/burns. The person was injured when they attempted to move an electric scooter that caught on fire while it was charging in the living room of the home. After sustaining burns, the person exited the apartment and closed the door behind them. A total of three patients were evaluated, and occupants from two units have been displaced. Approximately $50K in damages incurred. The cause of the scooter fire is believed to be a malfunction/failure of the scooter battery.


8am Update: Fuel from the leaking saddle tank has been removed by hazmat crews and vehicles have been towed from the scene.

A collision that took place at approximately 4am on Saturday morning, shut down the through lanes of I-270SB between Rt. 28 (Exit 6) and Montrose Rd (Exit 4), according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) PIO Pete Piringer.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a fire at the Twin Towers apartment complex on Fidler Lane and Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring a little after 2pm on Friday afternoon, according to MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.


Per Rockville City Police Department: Traffic Alert – 10/26/22 at 9:30 p.m. Southbound Wootton Parkway is temporarily closed at Seven Locks Road due to a traffic collision. Driver of vehicle was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Per Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services: MCFRS are on the scene of a collision with injuries on Wooton Pkwy near Tower Oaks in Rockville. 2 adults being evaluated, 1 has serious, non-life threatening injuries. Wooton Pkwy closed.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) we’re called to the scene of a dump truck fire on the ICC (200) between New Hampshire and Layhill Rd, according to Lt. Franco Martinez.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022 an officer was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Olney Laytonsville Road. No injuries were reported.
