Three People Rescued From Medical Center Metro Elevator Friday Evening

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for three people trapped inside of an elevator at Medical Center Station in Bethesda shortly before 7pm on Friday evening.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the elevator was stuck 90 feet from the top and 30 feet from the bottom. Three people were trapped inside, with at least one of the people having a medical condition that “may preclude the most common ways of extrication.” The technical rescue was successful, per a 7:23pm update, with all three people successfully extricated. Four Patients Evaluated Following Crash in Fairland Thursday Night

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to the scene of a crash that left at least one person trapped inside of a vehicle on southbound route 29 Old Columbia Pike, just before Fairland Rd, in Fairland around 10pm on Thursday night.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the collision involved two vehicles with four total patients being evaluated on the scene. One person was extricated after being trapped inside of one of the vehicles involved. Some lanes remain blocked as of 10:45pm.

Four-Vehicle Crash on EB MD200 (ICC) Blocks Most Lanes Thursday Night

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) has responded to a collision involving four vehicles on eastbound MD200 (ICC) prior to the Georgia Avenue exit (at Emory Ln) shortly before 10:30pm on Thursday night.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the collision possibly involves a pedestrian who was changing a tire and was struck by a passing driver. A person is also trapped inside the striking vehicle. At least four patients are being evaluated with most lanes closed on eastbound MD200 (ICC) and cars getting by on the shoulder. MCFRS Respond to Collision Involving Overturned Vehicle on I-495 Thursday Afternoon

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving an overturned vehicle on outer loop I-495 just after the I-270 spur on Thursday, April 27 around 12:45pm. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, two adults were transported to the hospital, including one patient with Priority 2 trauma and one patient with non-life threatening injuries. Drivers should expect residual delays. We will post an update if additional information is available.

$1 Million in Damage Due to Fire on Wednesday Night; No Injuries

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire at a commercial auto body shop at approximately 7:30pm on the 11300blk of Fern St., near University Blvd. West in Wheaton. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, fighters arrived to heavy fire conditions which included the contents of the building and several vehicles.

By 8:30pm, Piringer tweeted that the bill of the fire had been knocked down, but that numerous hotspots remained. The fire involved the auto body shop and several vehicles. Surrounding roads remained closed for several hours. The fire originated at wire rack shelving, but the cause is still under investigation. Damage is estimated to be approximately $1 million, and no injuries were reported.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue services are on the scene of a fire at a commercial auto body shop on the 11300blk of Fern St., near University Blvd. West in Wheaton. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, fighters arrived to heavy fire conditions which included the contents of the building and several vehicles.

According to Montgomery County Police, “University Blvd. West is closed at Elkin St. due to a fire related incident on Fern St. Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes.” We will post an update when additional information is available.

Vehicle Driven Into Papa John’s in Rockville

An SUV was driven into Papa John’s at College Plaza in Rockville (near Montgomery College Rockville) on Tuesday, April 25 around 10pm. There were no serious injuries and a building inspector was notified. Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Pete Piringer reminds residents that “Papa John’s delivers and there is no need to drive-in for carry out.” We will post an update if additional information becomes available.

MCFRS Respond to Fire Caused by Improperly Discarded Smoking Materials Early Wednesday Morning

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house fire in the 22000 block of Dickerson Rd, near Dickerson Church Rd and Big Woods Rd in Dickerson on Wednesday, April 26 around 2am. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials on the front porch. A smoke alarm alerted residents and they evacuated safely.

Damage is estimated to be $15K and there were no injuries reported.

MCFRS Respond to “Hit and Run” Tuesday Evening in Olney

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a hit and run involving a vehicle and utility poles at the intersection of Bird Road and Batchelor’s Forest Road in Olney around 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 25. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the road will be closed for a significant amount of time due the damaged utility poles and “live” wires down. ~55 Firefighters Respond to Fire Saturday Afternoon

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Serviced (MCFRS) responded to a fire at a two-story farmhouse on the 4200 block of Sundown Road between Sunshine and Laytonsville on Saturday afternoon.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, approximately 55 firefighters responded to the call. Upon arrival, fire and smoke was coming from the house, which is located in a non-hydrant area with a limited access driveway. Live wires were reported down in the area and all occupants and pets were reported out of the house.

MCFRS Respond to Collision With Rollover on Frederick Road

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a collision with rollover on Friday afternoon in Rockville. According to the Rockville Police Department, the collision occurred at Southbound Frederick Rd and Redland Rd. Three people have been transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
