$50,000 Winning Lottery Ticket Sold in Germantown Remains Unclaimed

While a $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot was won on a ticket sold in Maine, Maryland had 11 Mega Millions winners last week at the $10,000 level and one at the $20,000 level. In all, the seven days ending Jan. 15 produced 51 winning tickets worth $10,000 or more that were redeemed or sold across Maryland, and the Lottery paid more than $32.5 million in prizes during that span.

Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Claims Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes of up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets up to and including $600. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.

Mega Millions Jackpot Roll Ends With $1.35 Billion Winner in Maine; Seven $10,000 or More Winners in Maryland

Per the Maryland Lottery: A historic Mega Millions jackpot roll came to an end on Friday night as the Jan. 13 drawing produced a $1.35 billion jackpot winner in the state of Maine. It is the second-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history and fourth-largest overall in U.S. lottery history.

In Maryland, Friday’s Mega Millions drawing produced seven third-tier winning tickets. Six of those tickets are worth $10,000 each, and one delivered a $20,000 prize because the winner added the Megaplier option to the ticket. The winning numbers in the drawing were 30, 43, 45, 46, 61; and the Mega Ball was 14. The Megaplier was 2X.

Friday the 13th Mega Millions Jackpot Up to $1.35 Billion

Michigan has been particularly lucky with Mega Millions jackpots on Friday the 13th, winning four of them (June 2008, May 2011, June 2014 and October 2017). That 2017 jackpot was shared with a winner in Rhode Island. Other jackpots on Friday the 13th have been won in New York (March 2009) and Ohio (November 2015). None of them, however, came close in size to the estimated $1.35 billion up for grabs later this week.

Per the Maryland Lottery: A Prince George’s County retiree who spent his career extinguishing fires is enjoying a flaming hot Lottery winning streak. After claiming two $50,000 Pick 5 prizes in November, the lucky player returned to Lottery headquarters this week to claim a third $50,000 Pick 5 prize. The Accokeek resident found his latest lucky ticket at 7-Eleven #38380 in White Plains. He stopped in for something to drink and then decided to place a $1 straight bet on the Nov. 19 Pick 5 evening drawing. The loyal daily player uses variations of an address for his numbers and selected the combination 15407 for this ticket.

$100,000 Winning Powerball Ticket Sold at Harris Teeter in Gaithersburg Has Been Claimed

The $100,000 winning Powerball ticket that was sold on September 5 at the Harris Teeter located at 323 Copley Place in Gaithersburg has been claimed by a woman from Virginia. Full story courtesy of the Maryland Lottery: “Spending the day shopping with two Maryland friends gave a Fairfax, Va., resident a $100,000 memory she won’t soon forget. The Powerball jackpot had rolled to $159 million for the Sept. 5, 2022 drawing and all three of them wanted to buy tickets. They wound up at Harris Teeter #384 located at 323 Copley Place in Gaithersburg, where they joined others buying tickets.

The Virginia resident bought five lines of quick-pick numbers and added the Power Play multiplier for a total of $15, then joined her friends for dinner.The information technology specialist returned home that night and didn’t check her ticket after the drawing. “I kind of forgot about it,” she said. Meanwhile, her Maryland friends had great news to share with her. “They called me and said the Harris Teeter has a sign up saying someone won!”The mother of one then checked her ticket against the winning numbers and realized she won a $50,000 third-tier prize. Even better was her discovery that the Power Play multiplier for the drawing doubled her prize to $100,000! She signed her ticket and put it in a secure location until she could claim her prize this week at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

Three $10,000-Winning Mega Millions Tickets Sold in MoCo; Jackpot Climbs to $1.35 Billion

While nobody matched all six numbers in last night’s Mega Millions drawing, three MoCo retailers sold winning tickets worth $10,000. Those stores were the State Line Market at 7817 Eastern Avenue in Silver Spring, Tiger Beer, Wine & Deli at 303 North Washington Street in Rockville, and Watkins Mill Beer & Wine at 857 Russell Avenue in Gaithersburg. The next Mega Millions drawing will take place this Friday, January 13, and has an estimated value of $1.35 billion with a cash value of $707.9 million. Although there was no Mega Millions jackpot winner on Tuesday night, the drawing produced five third-tier $10,000-winning tickets sold in Maryland. Congratulations! The jackpot for the next Mega Millions drawing on Friday, Jan. 13 rolled to an estimated annuity value of $1.35 billion. If the jackpot is hit at that amount on Friday, it would be the second-largest in Mega Millions history and the fourth-largest in U.S. lottery history. Tonight’s Mega Millions Jackpot Now Over $1 Billion

Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot, which is the third largest in Mega Millions history, has reached an estimated $1.1 billion, with a cash option $568.7 million. The only Mega Millions jackpots larger are the record of $1.537 billion, won in South Carolina on October 23, 2018, and $1.337 billion won in Illinois last July 29. According to the Maryland Lottery, two $1 million winning Mega Millions tickets were sold in the state over the past week. Back in October, lottery fever took over MoCo when Powerball’s jackpot reached a record-setting $2.04 billion and became the largest prize in lottery history. Like Powerball, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to build after each drawing where no ticket is matched.

18-Year-Old College Student from Germantown Wins $30,000 Playing Christmas Scratch-off

An 18-year-old Germantown woman came to Maryland Lottery headquarters with her parents in tow, eager to share her exciting experience. The Lottery novice won big the first time she played a scratch-off and was claiming a $30,000 top prize on the Peppermint Payout game. For her first Christmas as an adult, the lucky woman received a few scratch-offs from her parents. She had luck on three of the instant tickets, winning $1, $2, and $30,000. “We gave them to her as a stocking stuffer,” her dad explained. The Montgomery County resident is a college student majoring in Digital Arts. She plans to put the scratch-off prize into her savings account. “It was shocking and a weird feeling” to win, she said, adding, “it was surreal.”

Another winner in this story was Shoppers #2362 located at 18066 Mateny Road in Germantown. The Montgomery County store will receive a $300 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $30,000 top-prize winning instant ticket. The Peppermint Payout game is still loaded with sweet prizes. Since it went on sale on Oct. 17, players have found four of the $3 game’s eight $30,000 top prizes. The game also has more than 450,000 unclaimed prizes ranging from $3 to $500. While there was no grand prize winner, CBS News reports that a $1 million dollar ticket was sold on Friday at Marlboro Liquors located at 5725 Crain Highway in Upper Marlboro, MD. This past fall, lottery fever took over MoCo when Powerball’s jackpot reached a record-setting $2.04 billion and became the largest prize in lottery history. Like Powerball, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to build after each drawing where no ticket is matched. The next drawing takes place at 11pm on Tuesday, January.

A $50,000 winning Bonus Match 5 lottery ticket sold on December 27 at the Fenton Citgo (8333 Fenton Street) in Silver Spring remains unclaimed as of January 3.
