Montgomery County’s State’s Attorney’s Office has launched the second annual “Speak Up, Save a Life” Student Video PSA Contest, inviting middle and high school students to create short videos highlighting the dangers of drug use, with top prizes of up to $1,000 and a submission deadline of November 8.
On Wednesday, Montgomery County announced it is committing $1.2 million to its FY25 Nonprofit Security Grant program to help protect nonprofit and faith-based organizations at risk of hate crimes. Eligible organizations can apply for up to $15,000 per facility to enhance security measures, with applications due by October 18, 2024.
Captain David McBain was unanimously confirmed by the Montgomery County Council as Assistant Chief of the Field Services Bureau, after 31 years of service with the Montgomery County Police Department. (more…)
The second annual Buckets and Beats: Silver Spring Youth Block Party will take place on Friday, Sept. 27, from 2-6 p.m. at Veterans Plaza, featuring a free 3-on-3 basketball tournament, soccer skills station, arts activities, a live DJ, and free food for youth, with the event aimed at fostering positive youth engagement in the community.
