Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, County Council President Andrew Friedson, Councilmembers, representatives of the County’s departments of General Services (DGS) and Transportation (MCDOT), AlphaStruxure, Pepco, Federal and State officials joined the groundbreaking ceremonies on an integrated microgrid project at the County’s David F. Bone Equipment Maintenance and Transit Operation Center (EMTOC) on Friday, June 14.
Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) now offers an online application system for obtaining full-service digital library cards, eliminating the need for in-person visits to County library branches to apply for a card.
Montgomery County recently broke ground on a new resiliency hub project and its second transit microgrid project. This one will be built at the Equipment Maintenance Transit Operations Center in the Derwood area, near Rockville.

Per the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security: “Montgomery County has activated a Hyperthermia Alert for extreme heat for Friday, 6/21 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Expect the heat index to be above 95 degrees. Stay hydrated. Take precautions to protect yourself & pets from heat-related illnesses.
