Rockville Man Murdered in Highland Elementary Parking Lot in Wheaton

Around 5:40AM Thursday, Montgomery County Police and Paramedics responded to Highland Elementary School on Medway Street in Wheaton for a reported shooting. Responders found a 21-year-old man dead on the scene.


Montgomery County Police Detectives are investigating two unrelated homicides that occurred Monday on Frederick Road.

Around 2:40AM Monday, Montgomery County Police 5th District Officers along with Firefighters and Paramedics responded to the 22800 block Frederick Road in Clarksburg for a shooting. 56-year-old Maryann Blackburn had been shot twice and succumbed to her injuries later in the day Monday. Police have 24-year-old David Mark Blackburn in custody; he is charged with first degree murder in the death of his mother.


Two Ejected From Germantown Crash, No Life-Threatening Injuries

Montgomery County Firefighters and Paramedics from Germantown Stations 729 and 734 responded along with Montgomery County 5th District Police Officers responded to Ridge Road near MD-355 Frederick Road shortly before 10AM Sunday for a car crashed into a tree.


Two Suffer Life-Threatening Injuries After Beltway Rollover

Around 1:40PM Saturday, Montgomery and Fairfax County Firefighters responded to the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway (I-495 North) between Persimmon Tree Road and River Road for a reported overturned vehicle. Responders found a vehicle that had ran off the roadway and struck a large, ground-mounted sign before overturning.


Montgomery County Councilmember Evan Glass tweeted this afternoon (December 31, 2020) that MoCo has distributed almost 3,000 Moderna COVID-19 vaccines in the last 48 hours, in addition to the Pfizer vaccine which has been making the rounds with hospital frontline staff across the county.

It also appears that nursing homes will be receiving doses through a direct partnership with retail pharmacies in the area; Glass noted that this process was being coordinated directly by the state of Maryland.
