The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) has arrested a federal agent accused of sexual assault. Detectives believe there may be additional victims. The agent, Eduardo Valdivia, was previously found not guilty of attempted murder by a jury in 2022 after he was charged for an off-duty shooting that occurred on a Metro train in Bethesda on December 15, 2020.
Montgomery County has announced it is advancing its zero waste goals through expanded recycling and composting programs, improved waste diversion technologies, and community engagement, achieving a 45% recycling rate—significantly above the national average of 32%. The County plans to implement advanced waste processing technologies, close its Resource Recovery Facility, and transition to more sustainable systems while maintaining current operations through a short-term contract extension.
