Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) and UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO have launched their third annual “Labor of Love” campaign, aiming to raise $70,000 through customer donations in November to support the March of Dimes in improving maternal and infant health across the U.S.
It’s that time of the year again. Today we once again share the story of “The Headless Horseman of Game Preserve Rd.” From the Montgomery County Sentinel in 1876: “As the story goes, during the Civil War a soldier was decapitated by a saber in a skirmish around what is now Game Preserve Road. After the fight, his fellow soldiers hastily buried him in an unmarked grave, even though they couldn’t find his head to bury with his body.”
Montgomery County has announced it has upgraded its AI-powered MC311 chatbot, “Monty 2.0,” to provide faster, more accurate responses on over 3,000 topics, support conversations in over 100 languages, and gather user feedback to continually improve its service. (more…)

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 48-year-old, Fabian Newsome with the Monday, October 21, 2024, murder of 88-year-old David Newsome, in the 12000 block of Sandalwood Lane between Colesville and White Oak.
The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is accepting applications for RainScapes Reward Rebates, offering up to $7,500 for residents and $20,000 for businesses to implement stormwater management practices that reduce runoff and protect local water quality. (more…)
