Crafting Queer Resistance will explore the expanding world of queer makers within textiles, wood, ceramics and metal. The presentation will look at how queer makers’ unique experiences challenge the histories, techniques and materiality of their mediums.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing woman from Chevy Chase. Gail Jacobs, age 60, was last seen on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at approximately 10:40 p.m., leaving the 7400 block of Wyndale Lane.
Jacobs is 5-feet, 7-inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. She has long brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a red long-sleeve shirt, black pants, brown sandals and eye glasses. Jacobs may be driving a black Mercedes Benz GLK with Maryland license plate, 5DG3292.
The bill approved by the Council calls for the County Executive to make nominations for the PAB and for the nominees to be confirmed by the County Council. Establishment of the PAB is in accordance with House Bill 670 approved by the Maryland General Assembly in 2021. The State law created a new uniform procedure for police accountability and discipline, including the establishment of a PAB in each County.
Nominated by County Executive Elrich for Montgomery’s PAB are: Bishop Paul Walker (nominated as chair), Alicia Hudson, Kenneth Kellner, George Lluberes, Rudy Logan, Katharine Manning, Alvin McCray, Thomas Williams Jr. and Christopher Zatratz.
The survey, which was drafted in collaboration with the County’s LGBTQ Advisory Board and launched by the Office of Community Partnerships, aims to gather data that will guide the future work of the County’s LGBTQ Liaison and LGBTQ Advisory Board.

Greenbelt, Maryland – A criminal complaint was filed today charging Nicholas John Roske, age 26, of Simi Valley, California, for federal charges of attempted murder of a Supreme Court Justice. Roske is expected to have an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt today at 3:00 p.m. before U.S. Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Sullivan.
This year’s forum is a series of informative and fun live streamed sessions discussing ‘Staying Connected Safely.’ Each session includes active audience participation through music, yoga, meditation, and question and answer opportunities. Residents can participate in each session virtually, or at in-person viewing parties hosted at County senior centers.
“We want to make sure that we are a community where people of all ages can thrive and learn,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “We have a growing older adult population, and we are pleased to host our Senior Safety Forum to provide the tools residents need to stay safe,” “More than 3.5 million older adults are cheated out of more than $3 billion each year at an average loss of $34,200. This is unacceptable. I encourage older residents to attend the forum to help them learn to identify scams, protect their identity, and learn how to report this predatory behavior. Prevention is paramount when it comes to protecting the livelihood of our older adult residents.”
From a June 2021 article: “Assistant Chief Facciolo joins the Montgomery County Police Department from the Bronx District Attorney’s Office where he served as a Deputy Chief overseeing the Strategic Enforcement and Intergovernmental Relations Division. In this role, Assistant Chief Facciolo directed all intelligence and crime strategies efforts, technical investigations including crime scene, photo, cell-site analysis, and digital forensics, forensic science services, strategic technology, the planning and analysis unit, and the alternatives to incarceration bureau. Assistant Chief Facciolo served as District Attorney Clark’s liaison to federal, state, and local law enforcement, forensics, and intelligence agencies, and managed her relationships with federal and state elected officials, local legislators, The Hill, and stakeholder organizations. Lastly, Assistant Chief Facciolo coordinated the county’s response to major law enforcement incidents, the opioid epidemic and mental health and crisis intervention services.
Before joining the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, Assistant Chief Facciolo served as a senior policy advisor with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Program. He was the primary architect of many national programs for the federal government including the Body-Worn Camera Program, intelligence for law enforcement, human trafficking taskforces, mental health crisis responses and homicide and forensic investigations.
Five Montgomery County middle school student-athletes (listed below) from Germantown Wrestling have made the Maryland National Wrestling team and are currently traveling to Indianapolis Indiana for 14U nationals. All five team members live in Montgomery County, go to school in Montgomery County, and will be attending high schools in Montgomery County in 2022 or 2023.
Germantown Wrestling’s head coach Craig staton, who is also the principal of Julius West Middle school tells us that student-athletes “are all excellent kids, aside from wrestling, and we are really proud that they will be representing Germantown Wrestling Club on the national level.”
A person of interest is in custody after a ‘Community Alert’ was put out at approximately 10:15 pm (and lifted at 11:45pm) on Tuesday night due to heavy police activity in the Rose Hill Falls community and surrounding streets in the area of Great Falls Road in Rockville. At the time, all residents were told they “should shelter in place immediately until further notice.” The community is located near Rockville Town Center.
Residents reported heavy police presence, closed roads, and a low flying helicopter with a search light on the scene after a Rockville resident called the police after for what was believed to be a person with a gun in their backyard at approximately 9:45pm.

Nathan Henderson of Boy Scout Troop 439 recently completed his Eagle Scout project at Leonard D. Jackson Ken Gar Center in Kensington. The Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America.
Nathan’s project included building and installing two benches, removing bushes, planting new bushes, and laying mulch. Thank you to Town of Kensington Public Works for pouring concrete bases for the benches. Nathan’s parents, John and Patti, were also present for the project. You can see photos of the project below.
