MCPS Prepared to Provide Online Instruction/Regional Meal Sites if Schools Close Due to Coronavirus

In a community message sent out on March 4th, MCPS outlined a plan the school system would follow in the event of school closures due to the corona virus.


Ridge Road is an existing rink refurbished by the Capitals. The old boards were removed, and the existing metal frame was used. The bench area and doors were adjusted to be ADA compliant by Riley Manufacturing, who then installed their board system. A new Daktronics scoreboard and Mateflex flooring system was installed featuring the Capitals logo.


The Dwelling Place, Inc.’s 4th Annual “Breaking the Cycle”: A ride to support homeless families in Montgomery County has three route options, a half-century (52 miles), Rockville Loop (35 miles) and a fun ride (9 mile).

The ride starts at Denizens Brewery in Silver Spring, and includes Stops at True Respite Brewery and Brookeville Beer Farm!


Every year, the Montgomery County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council holds an event through our Choose Respect Initiative which focuses on teen dating violence prevention.

RespectFest 2020 is on Sunday, March 29th from 1 -4 at the Wheaton Community Recreation Center. This festival, geared towards middle and high school students, parents, educators and youth serving providers, will have activities, games and information about celebrating healthy relationships and on dating violence prevention and where someone can go to get help.

Gaithersburg UkeFest is a nationally recognized, premier ukulele festival right here in Montgomery County, MD. Gaithersburg residents Keith and Nani Lowery founded the festival in the Fall of 2018 and held the inaugural UkeFest March 15-16, 2019.
