Montgomery Parks has announced programming and operating hours for the 2024 winter holiday break with a variety of events for the whole family:
Montgomery Parks received top awards for creative marketing campaigns including Sligo Creek Fest and the Wheaton Action Sports Park at the 2024 MarCom Awards from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP). The department also received top honors from the Maryland Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA) at its Annual Showcase Awards in Glenn Dale, Md., on October 23, 2024.
Montgomery Parks will renovate the Ellsworth Urban Dog Park located in Ellsworth Urban Park in Silver Spring beginning in early January 2025.
The Potomac Horse Center (PHC) closed permanently in July, after 31 years leasing the location from Montgomery Parks (14211 Quince Orchard Rd in North Potomac). In a statement in May, Montgomery Parks wrote that the PHC, a private business, notified Montgomery Parks of its intent to end its lease. Now, Montgomery Parks is preparing the site for the future which will include the demolition of buildings on site that are beyond repair.
