Two suspects were arrested in Howard County after an incident occurred in Pike & Rose involving an off-duty police officer on Friday evening.  According to MCPD, “At approximately 7:58 p.m., an attempted vehicular assault on an off-duty officer occurred in the area of Pike & Rose in North Bethesda for reasons that are still under investigation. MCP Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver of the vehicle refused to stop. Officers followed the vehicle to I-95 in Howard County, where both suspects were taken into custody. No injuries have been reported.  

This is an active and ongoing investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.”


In a move to consolidate members, staff, resources, etc. SoldierFit has permanently closed its Bethesda location (7920 Norfolk Ave Bethesda, MD 20814) with plans of combining it with its North Bethesda/Rockville location (12241 Nebel St, North Bethesda, MD 20852). SoldierFit Bethesda opened approximately three years ago in Bethesda, while the North Bethesda/Rockville location opened in 2016.

Soldierfit, founded by Army veteran Danny Farrar and Rockville native/Wootton High School alumnus Dave Posin, offers memberships for group classes, access to exercise equipment, personal training and kids’ classes. In 2007, the company started with boot camps in area parks until it leased brick-and-mortar space in 2010 in Gaithersburg. The safety improvements are part of the resurfacing project that began earlier this month. The overall project will be complete by the end of the year, weather permitting.


We spoke with a representative from a Montgomery County Sport & Health location on Friday who confirmed that all Sport & Health locations will be rebranding to Onelife Fitness gyms. Currently, Montgomery County is home to two Sport & Health locations- Bethesda and North Bethesda. We were told that notice will go out to existing members on October 1st announcing the change and providing additional information to members.

Back in 2014 US Fitness added Sport & Health to its portfolio of clubs, creating one of the largest health club companies in the country.  US Fitness, a partnership between industry veterans Kirk and John Galiani and New Evolution Ventures, operates Onelife Fitness and Crunch Fitness clubs throughout Virginia and Washington, DC under the leadership of the Galianis. Federal Realty announced today that 909 Rose, located in the award-winning, transit-oriented Pike & Rose neighborhood in North Bethesda, Md., is fully leased. One person has died following a two vehicle collision that occurred in the area of Josiah Henson Pkwy. and Randolph Rd. in North Bethesda on Sunday afternoon. Per MCPD:

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, at approximately 4:14 p.m., 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for a traffic collision involving a Ford and an Audi.


Grosvenor, a privately owned international real estate company, has acquired its latest multifamily value-add property – Grosvenor Tower, a 237-unit apartment building located at 10301 Grosvenor Place in North Bethesda. According to a BizJournals report, the building has sold for approximately $95.3 million and Grosvenor plans to invest as much as $10 million in improvements.

Per Grosvenor: The 21-story building, which coincidentally shares the Grosvenor name, fits Grosvenor’s investment strategy of acquiring and improving existing high-quality multifamily properties in its coastal gateway markets. Known for its commitment to long-term sustainability, Grosvenor plans to significantly lower the carbon profile of the property while investing in upgrades to modernize common areas and improve apartment interiors. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to North Bethesda United Methodist Church (10100 Old Georgetown Rd) in North Bethesda on Saturday, July 9, around 1:30am after the church’s fire alarm system was activated.  Firefighters located several areas where small fires were set, or attempted to be set, inside of the church. Damages are estimated to be around $1,000. Investigators also located damaged head stones and scattered broken wood pieces at Wildwood Baptist Church at 10200 Old Georgetown Rd, right down the road from United Methodist.

On Sunday, July 10, MCFRS responded to a fire alarm at the St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church (9601 Old Georgetown Rd) shortly before 2am and arrived to find several pews on fire inside the church, according to a our Public Safety Correspondent Cordell Pugh. The fire was knocked down a short time later. Sixty-five firefighters responded to the scene and there were no injuries reported. Damages are estimated to be around $50,000.


A collision has closed all southbound lanes of Rockville Pike (MD-355) at Tuckerman Lane, with northbound now down to one right lane.  Drivers are to expect significant delays and advised to seek an alternate route. The collision occurred on Rockville Pike between Tuckerman Lane and Strathmore Avenue around 1:30pm on Friday afternoon.

According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Pete Piringer, four patients were transported to the hospital, including two juveniles, all with non life-threatening injuries (one of which was Pri2 trauma.) We will post an update when more information becomes available.
