At Sherwood High School, a unique tradition has blossomed over the past four years, bringing students together and creating lasting memories. Every day, a group of dedicated students led by Zach Geller and Nick Hammond has gathered at a specific spot in the school– a staircase affectionately dubbed “The DN,” named after the down sign that adorns it. This daily ritual of taking a photo has transformed from a simple idea between two friends into a beloved staple of the school community (photos through the years available below).

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has charged a 17-year-old from Olney with vehicular manslaughter after an investigation determined he was driving at high speed and using a cell phone during a February crash that killed a Bethesda man. (more…)


The father of 5-year-old Gibson Rivera Theimer, who was severely injured in a lawn mower accident on Saturday, May 10, in Olney, has provided an update on his condition. He shared that Gibson’s injuries are far more extensive than initially reported, affecting his entire right leg from upper buttock to foot. While Gibson is now out of immediate danger, he faces multiple surgeries, a long rehabilitation process, and will ultimately require a prosthetic. Over $40,000 has been donated so far to a GoFundMe campaign supporting his recovery. (more…)
