Bun’d Up has closed its location in The Block at Pike & Rose after a little over a year and a half. Bun’d Up opened it’s Pike & Rose location in January of 2021and is known for putting a “modern, Korean twist on the original Taiwanese “gua bao” with handmade buns, local produce, and sustainably raised meat from Springfield Farm.” The location closed a earlier in September, according to a representative from The Block. We were told a replacement hasn’t been named yet, but one is likely to take over in the coming weeks.

Bun’d Up is still available in the DMV at Pentagon Row in Arlington and Union Station in DC. You can also still get your buns in MoCo on Saturdays between 9am and 1:30pm at the Pike Central Farm Market in Pike & Rose and at the Bethesda Central Farm Market on Sundays between 9am and 1:30pm at 7600 Arlington Rd.


Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 31-year-old Scorpio Alexander Standfield (unknown address) with two separate stabbings; one a homicide, that occurred on Saturday, September 3, 2022, on Hungerford Dr. in Rockville.

At approximately 9:55 p.m., Rockville City Police, Montgomery County Police and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 700 block of Hungerford Dr. in Rockville for the report of a stabbing that just occurred.


The Rockville City Police Department responded to the 700 & 800 block of Hungerford Drive for the report of a stabbing, where two adult male victims were located. Our public safety reporter Cordell Pugh tells us the incident occurred near Ivy League Lane at approximately 10:20pm on Saturday night.

Per Rockville Police: “There is no threat to the community. Montgomery County Police Department Major Crimes will assume this investigation.” This story will be updated with additional information, once we receive it.


Federal Realty announced today that 909 Rose, located in the award-winning, transit-oriented Pike & Rose neighborhood in North Bethesda, Md., is fully leased. Per Federal Realty: Bright MLS is taking 13,455 square feet and will join Beiser Law Firm, ESAB, Industrious, Kuta Software, LLC,OneDigital, Rowe, Weinstein, Sohn PLLC, Rycon Construction, United Solutions, and Federal Realty.

Spirit is now open in Gaithersburg (Rio) at the former Charming Charlies, located at 101 Boardwalk Place and in Rockville at the former Pier One, located at 12137 Rockville Pike (Pike Center). The location in Burtonsville at the Former Fashion Bug, located at 15791 Columbia Pike, is expected to open soon. During the Halloween season, Spirit operates over 1,400 store locations in North America. The Spirit Halloween website is open year-round, offering its in-store products online. The stores are usually open for 30 or 60 days prior to Halloween.

Joe Marver created the Spirit Halloween business model, a pop-up store catering to Halloween revelers. Starting with his first pop-up location in the Castro Valley Mall in 1984, he grew Spirit Halloween to 60 seasonal stores nationwide before it was acquired in 1999. His approach to short-term leases, locations, and the stocking of widely varied merchandise was novel in the Halloween retail sector.


A vehicle was driven into the Food Stop Mini Mart at 4820 Boiling Brook Pkwy in North Bethesda, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) chief spokesperson Pete Piringer.

The crash occurred at approximately 5pm on Wednesday afternoon and caused plenty of damage to the storefront. Additional information on why the crash occurred is unavailable at the moment and we have not been made aware of any injuries.


In July we let you know that Planet Fitness will be opening a new location at 5520 Randolph Rd in Rockville (Montrose Shopping Center) in the space that was formerly occupied by Gold’s Gym. Though an opening date has not yet been set, we were told today that the current Rockville location at 1776 E Jefferson St in Federal Plaza will close when the new location opens. The new location is currently under construction.

Planet Fitness currently has MoCo locations in Germantown, Rockville, and two in Silver Spring. In June, Planet Fitness at 255 Muddy Branch Rd in Gaithersburg  announced it would no longer be open 24 hours, seven days a week.  The gym now closes on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at 9pm and reopens the following morning.  The other MoCo locations will remain 24-7 according to a representative at the Gaithersburg gym.


Several Montgomery County theaters will offer $3 tickets this Saturday, September 3 as a part of National Cinema Day. According to www.nationalcinemaday.org, the $3 tickets are for “every movie, every showtime, and every format.” Some theaters will also offer food and drink discounts, such as AMC, who are offering a fountain drink and popcorn combo for $5. XO Pho & Grill has recently joined T-swirl Crepe at 313 N Washington St in Rockville. T-swirl Crepe has been at the location since April of 2019 with XO Pho & Grill joining a few weeks back.

The XO Pho & Grill menu offers unique pho pairings such as the Pho XO Live Lobster Raptor T Rex (featured photo), a dish made to be shared that includes “Live Lobster, Shrimp Balls, and Prime Beef Ribs”.
