Call Your Mother Deli is officially returning to Bethesda on Monday, August 3, when the popular D.C.-based “Jew-ish” deli opens its new permanent location at 4828 St. Elmo Ave.

The new restaurant occupies the former Hardwood Artisans space in downtown Bethesda, which was also previously home to Design Within Reach and Johnny Rockets. It marks the brand’s return to Bethesda after relocating its popular “Lil’ Deli” pink trolley from Old Georgetown Road to Riverdale Park last year following a five-year run.


Many people have their favorite “build-your-own” bowl restaurant that they love; Chipotle, Cava, Honeygrow, Bibibop and many more. These build your own bowl restaurants span a wide variety of different cultures and cuisines, but one that you don’t see get a ton of representation is Caribbean/West African. Spiced Black in Upper Marlboro, MD is changing that with salads and bowls that take inspiration from southern soul food, Caribbean ingredients and West African flavors.
