Elena James, located at 8551 Connecticut Ave in the Chevy Chase Lake neighborhood, is set to open on Friday, December 6. Maryland and Montgomery County’s third Tatte location will open on Wednesday, January 29th at 12232 Rockville Pike, according to the store’s Google listing. The bakery recently opened its second Maryland location at 5400 Westbard Ave in Bethesda.
Eater DC recently released its list of “Best Pasta Places Around D.C.,” featuring two Maryland restaurants. Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront is hosting its annual “Light Up the Lakefront” event on Saturday, December 7th from 5pm-7pm that will feature a fireworks display over the lake.

California Tortilla has closed one of its Gaithersburg locations permanently. According to a sign on the door at 255 Spectrum Ave at the Spectrum Town Center, the restaurant closed its doors on Wednesday, November 27th.
La Paz, located at 51 South Market Street in Downtown Frederick, has announced it will close its doors on Sunday, December 8, after 46 years in business. A Frederick staple since 1978, the restaurant is known for its margaritas and outside patio seating along the Carroll Creek. La Paz will be replaced by a new concept set to open in 2025.|
Hangry Joe’s has signed on to open a new location at 13811 Outlet Dr. in Briggs Chaney Marketplace. It will be taking over a space that has been vacant for a few years and previously occupied by Metro PCS, between Mimi’s Nails and H&R Block.
Coming soon signage is up for Ba Le Sandwiches at 765 Rockville Pike, Suite F-G, in the Ritchie Center. The restaurant will occupy the space previously home to Oc & Crab Seafood Restaurant and Live Crawfish & Seafood. (more…)
