Umi Hot Pot, Sushi & Seafood Buffet opened last Friday in Rockville and has been drawing huge crowds with waits often exceeding an hour for dinner service. The highly anticipated restaurant has taken the space that was recently home to Miller’s Ale House and previously home to Hooters and Shakey’s at 1471 Rockville Pike in Rockville. A first look is available below.
Yelp, a popular crowd-sourced review website, has put together its “Top 100 Sushi Spots 2024” list. Included at #73 was Ocean City’s Sushi Cafe, which can be found at 13711 Coastal Highway between 137th and 138th street at the popular Maryland vacation destination. Olney’s 168 Asian Burrito was the only other Maryland restaurant to make the list at #57 in the country.

Baked Potato House, which featured “delicious stuffed potatoes”, has closed its location in the Clarksburg Premium Outlets after one year in business.

Square Taco, a family-owned and operated food truck, is getting ready to stop by the Clarksburg outlets this Friday, August 16th from 10am until 9pm. “We’re excited to bring you the real taste of Mexico with a unique twist. At Square Taco, even our tortillas are square-shaped, setting us apart and adding a fun, creative touch to our traditional recipes.” the owners tell us (photos below).

Koma Cafe, which offers Italian-inspired cuisine and much more in the Long Branch Neighborhood of Takoma Park, has been a hit since it opened last October. Known for its specialty coffee & tea, and Italian-inspired pastries and food, Eater DC recently wrote that the unique soft serve ice cream the cafe offers “steals the show.”
