DC’s Butter Me Up will be opening a Montgomery County location in Westfield’s Montgomery Mall.

HalfSmoke, which should be opening its first MoCo location in Rockville Town Square soon, created Butter Me Up as a breakfast sandwich pop-up during the pandemic so that customers can pick up or order breakfast sandwiches for delivery.

A Yelp article titled “Top Breakfast Sandwiches in Each State” featured MoCo’s very own Sunday Morning Bakehouse as the sandwich chosen for the state of Maryland.

After the breakfast sandwich was featured on TasteMoCo, a reader reached out to let us know that the sandwich has been recognized nationwide.

Big Al’s Subs and Soups has opened in the Montgomery Mall food court, taking over the location that was previously home to Wicked Waffles next to Charley’s.

The restaurant offers ten different signature sandwiches, which includes a vegetarian option called “The Mediterranean”, or gives you the option to create your own regular ($7.49) or large ($10.49) sub.

Yesterday we received word that Naz’s Halal would expanding to Germantown and Rockville, but we have  now learned of two additional MoCo locations– Takoma Park and White Oak.

Germantown- 13025 Wisteria Drive

Naz’s Halal Food will open two new MoCo locations in 2022. The new restaurants will be located in Germantown and Rockville, a representative from the restaurant confirmed today.

As of now, we don’t have exact locations, but we’re told Edmonston Crossing (the shopping center that is home to Iron Age) is likely in Rockville. Permits have recently been submitted and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

Possible Life Sciences and Biotechnology Office Building Coming to Pike & Rose in Location Currently Occupied by Bark Social

We recently learned of plans for a potential new office building that could be constructed at 935 Prose Street in Pike & Rose, the current site of Bark Social.

The Burger King located at 16004 Shady Grove Rd has been temporarily closed for renovations since the start of 2021.

We stopped by this weekend to take a look at the progress and it looks as though the exterior of the building is almost ready to go, with progress made on the interior. The surrounding parking area has been re-paved and is basically completed (photos below).

Updated on 1/31 with information on the restaurant’s ABS hearing

Willie T’s Seafood Shack and BRB (be right burger) are both moving in to 9326 Georgia Avenue (joint restaurant), between Islands Tropical Ice Cream and Goldberg’s New York Bagels, in the location that was formerly home to Andy’s Restaurant (h/t @SilverSpringEats).
