Haagen Dazs will close its Bethesda Row location on July 31st, according to an employee at the shop.

The ice cream shop, which has been there for about a decade, will be replaced by a Chaia Tacos pop-up. Chaia currently has two locations in D.C. and will be bringing their vegan tacos to Bethesda Row.


Federal Realty has announced that the popular Roaming Rooster will open in Fall 2021 at North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose. The 1,843-square-foot restaurant will feature its famous buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches, sides, salads and an all week breakfast menu.

Jeff Bezos Donates 100 Million to Bethesda-Based Chef José Andrés

Right after Jeff Bezos returned from his self-founded trip to outer space, he announced that he will be awarding the “Courage and Civility Award” to Bethesda-based Chef José Andrés. Andrés Was one of the two lucky recipients. 


Chaia Tacos, which has two locations in Washington, DC, has announced they will be opening a pop-up shop at 7237 Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda, the former site of Häagen-Dazs.

A few of the taco varieties they serve include braised mushroom, kale & potato, roasted eggplant, and chipotle sweet potato hash.  The menu does not feature Impossible/Beyond style meat substitutes. According to Bethesda Beat, the food will be prepared at their Chinatown location and then brought to the Bethesda restaurant. Chaia hope to open by the fall.


BurgerFi, an American fast casual restaurant chain focused on hormone-free and antibiotic-free angus hamburgers, french fries, hot dogs, custard, and more, is coming to Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg.

The restaurant will be opening at 5 Grand Corner Ave, across from Dick’s Sporting Goods and next to Lanzhou Hand Pull Noodles.


Eyewear brand Warby Parker, which does most of its business online, is opening a brick and mortar location in the old Hair Cuttery location at 130 Crown Park Ave in the Downtown Crown neighborhood in Gaithersburg.

We are told the store will carry the brand’s full optical and sun eyewear offerings including its first brand of daily contact lenses.

Planta, an Upscale Plant-Based Restaurant, is Now Aiming for a Fall Opening

Back in January we told you that Planta, an upscale plant-based restaurant featuring a menu by Chef David Lee, will be coming to 4910Elm St at Bethesda Row, in the location formerly occupied by Cafe Deluxe (Cafe Deluxe closed permanently back in March of last year).


Clarksburg Tavern Remains Open its Social Media Account and Google Stating Otherwise

A message was posted on the Clarksburg Tavern Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon stating that the restaurant would be closing on July 23rd.
