Kanpai Southeast Asian BBQ and Shabu Shabu Buffet at 1701 Rockville Pike STE A10 in Rockville will begin its soft opening on Wednesday, September 25, from 5-10pm.
Falafel Inc is coming to Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, taking over the space recently occupied by Butter Chicken House, next to Chick-Fil-A. The DC-based quick service chain serves falafel, hummus, bowls and sides like Zaatar fries and Tabouli salad. (more…)

The inaugural Butter Chicken Festival will take place in the DMV from October 13-20, featuring top local restaurants showcasing their unique versions of the popular dish. From “Butter Chicken tacos to burritos and spaghetti,” participating chefs will present creative twists on the classic recipe, with a portion of sales supporting World Central Kitchen (WCK), Chef José Andrés’ non-profit focused on providing meals during crises. Since its closing in 2013, the absence of Roy’s Place has left a hole in the hearts of many current and former Montgomery County, Maryland residents. According to the now-defunct Roy’s Place website, the restaurant began serving their 200+ sandwiches in Rockville in 1955. After a couple moves within Rockville, they settled in at 2 E Diamond Ave in Olde Towne Gaithersburg in 1971. (more…)

Red Lobster has announced that it has successfully exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is now under new USA-based ownership. In May, many Red Lobster restaurants across the country, including both Montgomery County locations in Gaithersburg and Silver Spring, abruptly closed.
