Margarita Bar & Grill has taken over the space that was previously occupied by the Fraternal Order of Eagle #3509 and Captain Mori’s Seafood House. Seafood in the Buff, a mobile steamed crab business, operates out of the parking lot next to this location in the summer months.

Chuck E. Cheese is now open at 5238 Nicholson Ln in North Bethesda/Rockville. Chuck E. Cheese was previously located at 5270 Randolph Rd in Loehmann’s Plaza before moving to its new, larger location in White Flint Plaza, taking over the space that was previously home to Retro Fitness. The location is one of the first in the area to feature Chuck E. Cheese’s new trampoline park. There will be a grand opening celebration on Thursday, November 9 from 5-7pm that will feature free cake and the chance to win a free birthday party.
Chuck E. Cheese has an additional Montgomery County location at 1127 University Blvd E in Takoma Park. The children’s indoor entertainment arcade also had a location in Gaithersburg that closed in 2020 after being in business at Gaithersburg Square for over 30 years. Per the Biz Journals report, the new location will “feature a 17-foot digital wall and other technological advances over the older locations. There will still be some Chuck E. Cheese mainstays, including things like skee-ball, air hockey, and, of course, pizza.” The Rockville location has also matched pre-2019 numbers this year, hosting 289 birthday parties.
Carmen’s Italian Ice is opening its newest location this Wednesday, November 8. Carmen’s is partnering with the owners of Kung Fu Tea at 130 Market St in Gaithersburg and is taking over the portion of the building that was previously occupied by Tutti Frutti. According to Carmen’s, it will initially offer three flavors of custard and six flavors of Italian ice. The new store will be offering half off 1/2 off of ices and gelatis in-store all day on Wednesday for “Jayden Day”.
Earlier this year Carmen’s partnered with the Clarksburg Market at 23329 Frederick Rd to open a similar concept in Clarksburg. About Carmen’s: It started with a simple idea. Introduce homemade gourmet Italian Ice to the Washington DC area. Jason Mandler – a native of Parsippany, New Jersey – opened Carmen’s Italian Ice & Cafe in Rockville, MD in 2001. It also now offers frozen custard, shakes, and a toppings bar.
Akira Ramen & Izakaya is now open at 105 Paramount Park Dr, next to Ela Mesa Taste of Greece in the Spectrum Town Center in Gaithersburg. Menu items include Ramen, Soba/Udon, and Sushi. There is an additional Akira location at 1800 Rockville Pike h1 in Rockville.

Montgomery County Police responded to a shooting in the White Oak Shopping Center on Saturday, November 4. According to police, “At approximately 5:51p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the America’s Best Wings restaurant in the 11200 block of New Hampshire Ave. for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to an area hospital, where one of the victims was pronounced dead. The second victim is in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that there was an altercation inside the restaurant that led to the shooting. After the shooting, the suspect left the scene. Shoppers at Tyson’s Corner Center (1961 Chain Bridge Rd, Tysons, VA) can now imbibe alcohol while shopping at the mall. According to the Tysons, “Now you can add a “twist” to your shopping experience by sipping on your favorite alcoholic beverage while strolling throughout Tysons Corner Center. You can purchase your favorite drink at any of our participating restaurants listed below. If a restaurant is not listed, they are not approved to sell alcohol for common area consumption”
There will be an official Sip & Shop Launch event on Wednesday, November 8 from 5-8pm where the first 100 shoppers to arrive will receive a gift bag and a $25 gift card from one of the mall’s participating restaurants, including:
District Bistro at 11230 Grandview Ave in Wheaton-Glenmont (former site of Umberto’s), will begin its soft opening on Friday, November 3, at 5pm. According to owner Pedro Matamoros, District Bistro is a new American concept that is focused on “seasonality and use of local ingredients.”
District Bistro shares its location with sister-restaurant Frank’s Burgers, with Frank’s on one side and District Bistro on the other, united by a kitchen in the back. A copy of the menu can be seen below.

10. Copper Canyon (928 Ellsworth Dr, Silver Spring): With a 4 out of 5 rating after 471 reviews, Copper Canyon’s Silver Spring location comes in at #10 overall in the county and #2 in Silver Spring. The restaurant has an additional MoCo location at Gaithersburg’s Rio.
Construction has recently began at Nori Japan (9615 Lost Knife Rd) in Gaithersburg. Back in January we let you know that the restaurant, which was one of the last remaining tenants at Lakeforest Mall, would be opening a new location across from the mall in the Montgomery Village Crossing shopping center, taking over the space that was previously occupied by Wok Express. We’re told the delay in construction was permit related. No opening date has been announced.
Montgomery Village Crossing is also home to B2J Fish Soup, BLT Grill, Copacabana Bakery, Hook & Reel, and Los Amigos Mexican.
