This past summer we let you know that Smoothie King signed on to open a new location at 20630 Seneca Meadows Parkway at the Shops at Seneca Meadows development (where Wegmans is located) in Germantown. A permit valued at $200,000 has been now issued for construction to begin on the interior.

LionRock Cafe, a Hong Kong style cafe located at 13 Dawson Ave. in Rockville, announced via social media that it will be closing its doors soon (as soon as the restaurant runs out of food and drink).
Robert Wiedmaier’s Mussel Bar & Grille closed its 7262 Woodmont Ave Bethesda location in April 2022, but we let you know the group planned to bring the restaurant back to a new location in Bethesda in 2024. the restaurant will be reopening at 4903 Cordell Avenue on October, 16th according to a social media post by the restaurant.
The Washington Post’s Tom Sietsema has been the newspaper’s food critic for nearly 25 years. Today he he released his list of “The 40 Best Restaurants in and Around D.C.“. 28 of the restaurants included in his list are in D.C., eight of them are in Virginia, and four of them are in Maryland (all in Montgomery County). Kapow Buddy ‘Thai Street Bowls’ will be soft launching at 7101 Democracy Blvd in Montgomery Mall (Entrance 4) with a 50% off special that will last from Tuesday, October 15th until Saturday, October 19th.
At the beginning of this year we let you know that Peterson Companies, which owns Rio Lakefront, submitted an application that proposed to add a floating dining pier for Guapo’s restaurant. The Gaithersburg Planning Commission approved the plan in February, but Guapo’s tells us that “the project will not be happening as of right now” and will keep us updated if anything changes.
Pacifica Café, located at 621 Center Point Way in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood, will close permanently on November 28th, according to a sign posted on the restaurant’s door.
Arby’s closed its last Montgomery County location at 11710 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda back in May of 2021. McDonald’s will be its replacement and now a permit valued at $1.15 million has been issued to get things started, according to Maryland Newsletters.

Starbucks is now open in the Aspen Hill shopping center. The new store has taken over the former home of shuttered women’s clothing store Dress Barn (13677 Connecticut Ave.).
