Three years ago UU Hotpot and Kebab Giles for permits to open a restaurant at the Spectrum Town Center in Gaithersburg. For various reasons, that didn’t work out.

A few months back Baltimore-based hotpot restaurant Hot Pot Hero took over the location and has made strides towards having the restaurant ready to open soon (no exact date yet, but I would expect it to open by the end of 2019, barring any unforeseen circumstances).

Earlier this year, Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group agreed to be bought by private equity firm L Catterton for $267.3 million. Last month, Landry’s, Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of the Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouses and the Del Frisco’s Grilles from L Catterton.

We aren’t sure of what will become of the current Del Frisco’s Grille in Pike & Rose, but we were told today that October 20th will be the last day it operates as Del Frisco’s before closing.

ViVi Bubble Tea, a New York Based bubble tea chain, will be opening soon in Montgomery Village Plaza (18236 Countour Rd).

They currently have over 30 locations nationwide, most being in New York. The closest ViVi Bubble Tea location is in Rockville and there was previously a planned location in the Spectrum Town Center in Gaithersburg, but those plans seem to have been cancelled.

Woodside Deli has been a household name for over 70 years, but this morning we received word that the Silver Spring location has closed. We called the location to ask if the Deli is closed permanently and were told “We are closed and we don’t have any other answers for you.”

The Rockville location told us that they will be happily serving the Montgomery County community and that they did not have any answers regarding the Silver Spring location. A Silver Spring deli and catering business that was established in 1947 was recently listed as being under contract on the business-for-sale website BizBuySell.

It looks as though CVS will be taking over the old Tommy Joe’s/O’Donnell’s location in the Kentlands (311 Kentlands Blvd).

We spoke with Gaithersburg Councilmember Neil Harris, who told us he heard rumblings of the pharmacy chain’s potential arrival a couple months back. With some light construction having begun inside the building, it looks as if some major changes are coming to the building soon.
