A Gaithersburg favorite is getting ready for a new chapter. Taco Bar El Güero, which closed its longtime home inside the Shell station at 10003 B Fields Rd earlier this month, is preparing to open its new restaurant in Downtown Crown this November. The upcoming location, at 200 Ellington Avenue, will take over the space that previously housed BurgerIM and Smashburger (sneak peek available below).

Update: The owner of Gyroland says no final decision has been made yet on the restaurant’s future. We were previously told by an employee that it would close by the end of the year after hearing from several readers that they were told the same. We’ll keep following this story. Gyroland, the popular Greek fast-casual restaurant located at 1701 Rockville Pike in Rockville’s Shops at Congressional Village shopping center, plans to close by this winter, according to a restaurant representative.


Geno’s Steaks, the Philadelphia restaurant known for its cheesesteaks, plans to open its first Maryland location at Power Plant Live! in downtown Baltimore in early 2026, according to WMAR-2 News. The new spot will mark the brand’s first expansion into the state. (more…)

BabyCat Brewery, the beloved Kensington-based brewery known for its community atmosphere and award-winning craft beers, has soft opened its brand-new taproom at 4850 Rugby Avenue in Bethesda.
