Kusshi Sushi, a Montgomery County-born restaurant brand known for its modern take on Japanese dining, will officially open its eighth location on Saturday, October 18th, at Reston Town Center in Northern Virginia. The opening marks another major milestone for the locally grown restaurant group, which first launched in Montgomery County and has since become one of the region’s most popular names in sushi.

Lines wrapped around the block in Wheaton on Sunday, October 12, as Maryland’s first Pollo Pinulito opened to overwhelming crowds. The Guatemalan fried chicken restaurant drew hundreds of customers throughout the day, with many waiting an hour or more to try the popular chain.

Less than a year after its $35.3 million acquisition by Bethesda-based Willard Retail, Rockville’s Research Row retail complex is now fully leased with the signing of ChaHalo. Sir Walter Raleigh Inn is fondly remembered as an affordable steakhouse known for its extensive salad bar, making it a popular spot for homecoming dinners and birthday celebrations. A local favorite for generations, Jimmie Cone will close out its 63rd season on Saturday, October 25th, marking the end of another year of sweet memories and classic soft serve in Montgomery County. The seasonal ice cream shop, known for its iconic swirl cones and long summer lines, will keep its pumpkin flavor on the menu through the final day of the season.

Jimmie Cone, with locations in Damascus and Mount Airy, has been a cherished local tradition since opening in 1961. Each year, the shop opens in early spring and operates through the fall, offering a nostalgic blend of soft serve, sundaes, shakes, and flurries that have become part of life for many Montgomery County and Frederick County families.


Two of the region’s hottest food brands are teaming up for a creative new crossover. Steezeburger, named the number one burger in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) by The Washington Post, is collaborating with PhoWheelz, the popular Vietnamese fusion spot that opened its Burtonsville restaurant earlier this year, to create a Steezeburger taco available for a limited time from October 24 through November 30.
