Three Maryland eateries, all located in Montgomery County, have been recognized by Eater DC on their list of “Best Sandwiches Around DC Right Now.” While there are many wonderful sandwiches across the county, Wheaton, Takoma Park, and Bethesda are now firmly on the map for serious sandwich enthusiasts.

Bao Bei is now open at 12055 Rockville Pike in the Montrose Crossing shopping center. The fast-casual restaurant is serving up authentic Taiwanese street food. Founded by the talented and Montgomery County-raised Kevin Hsieh, Bao Bei has built a loyal following from its roots as a ghost kitchen and its national television appearance, and it is now ready to serve the community from its new brick-and-mortar location. Sunday night was filled with laughter, gasps, and outright amazement as Maximum Magic Shop (currently located in Potomac) put on an unforgettable show at Give a Hoot Comedy Club in Gaithersburg. The event featured a lineup of local magicians from across the DMV area, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained and, for a couple attendees, literally hypnotized (video below).

Burtonsville bid farewell to its 7-Eleven, located at 15585 Old Columbia Pike, this past spring. The building is set to be demolished as part of the plans for Wawa to open its second Montgomery County location on the current site of 7-Eleven and the adjacent Mattress and More Liquidators (15595 Old Columbia Pike). A representative from Mattress and More Liquidators shared with us that the store is expected to close in October.

Two Maryland Thai restaurants (both in Montgomery County) earned a spot on Eater DC’s most list of “The Best Thai Restaurants in D.C.” While there are many wonderful Thai restaurants in the county, the publication’s recognition highlights the vibrant and authentic flavors available at these two restaurants just outside the nation’s capital.

In September 2023, we let you know of the planned Dunkin’ location at 17700 Muncaster Road, just off Muncaster Mill Road. The project has faced some delays, with the latest information indicating an ongoing effort to resolve traffic-related permitting issues, but construction continues to progress.
