Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School (B-CC) is undergoing a leadership transition as Principal Dr. Shelton Mooney has made the decision to step down and has accepted a new role within Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), according to a letter sent to the B-CC community. Dr. Mooney will be moving to James Hubert Blake High School to serve as an assistant principal, a change from an earlier communication that had placed him at Albert Einstein High School.

In April, a traffic light was installed at the intersection of Watkins Mill Rd. and Russell Ave. in Gaithersburg. After a period of time where the lights remained covered and a brief period of time consisting of a flashing red lights, the traffic lights are now fully operational.

Attorney General Anthony G. Brown joined a coalition of 23 states in filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration challenging a provision in the recently passed budget reconciliation law that blocks Medicaid funding for services provided by Planned Parenthood, arguing it is unconstitutional and would negatively impact public health and increase state healthcare costs.

Montgomery County Councilmember Evan Glass has introduced Bill 28-25, which would prohibit vehicles from standing, stopping, or parking in designated bikeways to improve cyclist safety and support the County’s Vision Zero goals. The legislation, co-sponsored by Councilmembers Fani-González, Friedson, and Luedtke, follows a rise in cyclist-involved crashes and aligns with similar laws in nearby jurisdictions.

Update: The restaurant has reached out to let us know an internet installation delay is forcing them to postpone the soft opening until August 5th.

Dolan Uyghur Cuisine, a highly anticipated addition to the Montgomery County dining scene since we shared the news a few weeks back, is set to hold its soft opening on Tuesday, August 5th. The restaurant, which specializes in authentic Uyghur dishes from Central Asia, will be located at 20-A Maryland Ave in Rockville, within The Square at Rockville, in the space formerly occupied by Kung Fu Kitchen and Peter Chang Rockville.
