The American Cancer Society has once again lowered the price of the property that was donated to the organization by former Washington Commanders owners Dan and Tanya Snyder in 2024. The house, located at 11900 River Rd. in Potomac, is now available for $24.9 million– a $5 million price drop from the previous $29.9 million price, and almost half of the $49 million it was initially listed for in February 2023.

Updated to reflect that the collision is now being investigated as fatal. MCPD has released a statement on the crash.

On Monday night, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) issued a traffic advisory following a fatal single-vehicle collision on Northbound Great Seneca Highway at Mateny Road in Germantown.


We are about two and an half weeks away from the return of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair, which kicks off on Friday, August 8 and runs through Saturday, August 16. This will mark the 76th annual fair, and for the first time in a long time there will be no fair parking/shuttles from Lakeforest Mall. Additional information available below:

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) has launched an internal investigation after an employee made an inappropriate comment on a Montgomery County Police Department social media post.  The employee is currently in non-operational status pending the outcome. (more…)


The Proper Burger from Duke’s Grocery has been voted the “Best Burger in DC” for the 10th consecutive year in Washington City Paper’s ‘Best of DC.’ Duke’s Grocery opened its first Maryland location in Potomac this past April and has five additional locations in DC (video of the experience below).

Attorney General Brown joined a coalition of 14 attorneys general in filing an amicus brief opposing the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to terminate Temporary Protected Status for immigrants from Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua, citing humanitarian and economic concerns.

The Montgomery County Council will meet on Tuesday, July 22 to present a proclamation recognizing Project SAFE, interview the nominee for deputy director of the Department of Housing and Community Affairs, receive a briefing on the County’s solid waste disposal strategy, and consider several zoning and subdivision amendments related to workforce housing, telecommunications, and land use.
