Montgomery County has announced that the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will headline the free Silver Spring Jazz Festival on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Veterans Plaza. The City of Takoma Park is actively pursuing and has recently gained legislative authority to implement an Automated Stop Sign Enforcement Pilot Program, specifically focusing on school zones. The Takoma Park Police Department is inviting the community to join them for a Community Engagement and Informational Session regarding the recently passed Automated Stop Sign Enforcement Bill, which designates Takoma Park as a pilot jurisdiction for this new initiative.

Yesterday, President Donald Trump shared on social media that the Washington Commanders should change the team name back to Redskins “IMMEDIATELY.” He followed that up by writing that he “may put a restriction on them that if they don’t change the name back to the original “Washington Redskins,” and get rid of the ridiculous moniker, “Washington Commanders,” I won’t make a deal for them to build a Stadium in Washington.” Today, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser answered questions about the the president’s threat.
