A fire on the third level of the five story Rio parking garage caused significant damage to several vehicles, according to MCFRSPIO Pete Piringer.
An SUV was fully engulfed and the fire spread to surrounding vehicles as smoke could be seen from surrounding areas.
Moorenko’s opened a Rio location this past June as a summer pop-up, taking over the old 16 Handles location on Boardwalk Drive.
The plan was to see how things went before deciding on whether to stay permanently. Moorenko’s management told us negotiations were ongoing after they closed the pop-up location on September 26th.
F45 Training, the Australian fitness franchise which recently brought on actor Mark Wahlberg as a minority owner, is coming to Rio. It’ll be located at 28 Grand Corner Avenue, near Target and Pier 1.
Every F45 studio consists of a small room filled with a few pieces of simple fitness equipment and a bookshelf to store your belongings during the workout.
The restaurant focuses on serving healthy, seasonal, sustainable, and organic food with plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
This will be the second MoCo location, with the first being at 7100 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda.
The store has been at 20 Grand Corner Ave in Rio for approximately 13 years. We were told there are no plans for this store to relocate as it had from its previous Kentlands location in the early 2000s.
There are nearby locations in Fairfax, Annapolis, and Towson.
The local artisanal ice cream scoop shop is going to be located in the space next to Starbucks on Boardwalk Place as a summer pop-up (updated on 6/8 to reflect the pop-up status of the store).
For those unfamiliar with Moorenko’s, they earned The MoCoShow’s #1 ice cream spot in MoCo award when we released our list back in 2017.
I was told that Baked Bear may soon be opening a NoVa location and that they’re still looking for other potential locations in MoCo.
Authentic Chinese eatery, Lanzhou Hand Pull Noodle, will be opening either this weekend or early next week across from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Dave & Buster’s will be joining Silver Diner, Kung Fu Tea, Baked Bear, and Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles as new spots at Rio this year.
Justice, the tween girls clothing store, will close in Rio (Gaithersburg) after being in that location for over a decade. The Rio location (31 Grand Ave.) is MoCo’s only Justice, […]
Yard House, which offers “great food, classic rock, and the worlds largest selection of draft beer”, is taking over the old Macaroni Grill location at 211 Rio Blvd.
