Sean Whalen’s career is an inspiring journey that began right here in Montgomery County, MD and led him to the high-energy sets of Hollywood. Born in Washington, D.C. and growing up as the youngest of four in Silver Spring/Olney, Maryland, Whalen’s early years played a pivotal role for the 1982 graduate of Sherwood High School.
Curtis Pride, a Montgomery County sports icon, has released his new book, “I Felt the Cheers: The Remarkable Silent Life of Curtis Pride.” The book features a Foreword by National Baseball Hall of Fame and Baltimore Orioles legend Cal Ripken, Jr.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has announced that 18-year-old Wilmer Ventura of Silver Spring has been arrested and charged with handgun and drug related charges.
Montgomery County government has awarded a $1.8 million grant to Victory Housing Inc. to electrify its Victory Tower property in Takoma Park, replacing fossil fuel systems with efficient electric alternatives to improve energy performance, indoor air quality, and climate resilience for low- to moderate-income residents.
