Two people were found dead in the 1100 block of University Blvd. West in Silver Spring after the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) responded to a call just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Jonathan Banks, who grew up in Montgomery County, is back in the global spotlight as he stars in Netflix’s newest hit miniseries The Beast in Me. The show is a psychological thriller that has quickly climbed to the top of the streaming platform’s rankings since its 2025 debut.
Banks graduated from Northwood High School in Silver Spring in 1966. He was born in Washington DC and spent his early childhood in Chillum Heights in Prince George’s County before his family moved to Montgomery County. He gained attention early in his career with roles in Airplane!, 48 Hours, and Beverly Hills Cop in the early 1980s.
Five Guys is now open inside of Westfield Wheaton Mall. The restaurant is located in the Costco wing, near the recently opened Oak, Barrel, and Vine liquor store.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has released additional information regarding a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred at 9:57 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, on Cherry Hill Road near Fairland. (more…)
A routine traffic stop in Downtown Silver Spring led to the recovery of a loaded handgun and the arrest of a driver who attempted to flee, according to the Montgomery County Police Department’s 3rd District.
Takoma Park Police are investigating an attempted carjacking that occurred early Monday morning, leaving a victim injured and property stolen.
Ramone Ramsay, 33, was sentenced to life without parole plus an additional life term and 20 years for the murder of 21-year-old Kymani Bailey and the attempted murders of two women, following his January 2025 convictions in Circuit Court. (more…)

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating an armed carjacking that occurred Thursday afternoon in the 7700 block of Eastern Avenue in Takoma Park, where two suspects confronted a woman in a parking lot, displayed a gun, and stole her Mercedes C300.
Good Counsel alumna and Silver Spring native Margaret “Midge” Purce capped off a remarkable comeback season by helping lead Gotham FC to a 1-0 victory over the Washington Spirit in the NWSL Championship. Purce, who played every minute of the title match, was a major part of Gotham’s run despite suffering a torn ACL just last year.
