A suburban office building, at 4110 Aspen Hill Rd. near Georgia Ave. in Aspen Hill, sold for $3.5 million.
Michael Brown of Suitland, Maryland, was arrested and charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm in a Silver Spring parking lot on November 3, 2024, after investigators identified him through surveillance footage and later found a loaded, unregistered handgun in his possession.

Two Silver Spring residents, 24-year-old Manuel Perez and 20-year-old Jonathan Cruz, were arrested and charged in connection with a series of wheel thefts spanning over two years. Following their initial arrest on March 4, investigators linked Perez to additional thefts dating back to December 2023, leading to a search of his residence where officers recovered a firearm and fentanyl pills; he later turned himself in on March 27 and now faces additional charges. Picanteria El Picaron is now open at 2417 University Blvd West in Wheaton. The restaurant is located in the space previously occupied by Wong Gee, which closed in January.
ICE Baltimore announced that it arrested Wilmer Antonio Echenique-Navarro, who was referred to as a “Venezuelan alien & Tren de Aragua gang member” on March 18. ICE noted that “@PGCorrections failed to honor ICE detainer & released him, putting MD residents at risk. He remains in ICE custody.” about a year after his arrest for a murder in an unincorporated section of Takoma Park.
Montgomery Parks has announced the availability of the GRIT Freedom Chair at Brookside Nature Center. This innovative chair integrates the features of a manual wheelchair and a mountain bike, making it suitable for exploring both natural surface and paved trails.
Dacha Beer Garden is coming to 1115 East-West Highway in Silver Spring, taking over the former site of Denizens Brewery. Denizens, which opened in the space in June 2014, closed its Silver Spring location in October 2023, with owner Julie Verrati stating, “Our ten-year lease has come to an end, and that’s the end of an era for us. It’s been an incredible ten years in Silver Spring, and we’re so grateful for the community here…” Denizens can still be found at 4550 Van Buren St in Riverdale Park, MD.
