Montgomery College Awarded: Maryland’s Best Community College

For the second year in a row, Montgomery College (MC) was recognized as Marylands best online community college by Premium Schools (2021). The global pandemic forced many jobs and educational systems to transition into virtual or hybrid models; MC is proud of being able to create an equitable online platform for all 21,720+ of its students.


Council President Hucker and County Executive Elrich to Host Bill Signing Ceremony for Ezechiel’s Law Tomorrow, June 8

Council President Tom Hucker and County Executive Marc Elrich will be hosting a bill signing for Ezechiel’s Law tomorrow at 9am in Rockville. Ezechiel’s Law requires landlords and apartment building owners to install and maintain window guards in apartments with children under the age of 10.


Prince George’s County Police Investigating Homicide of Takoma Park Teenager

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal assault that occurred earlier this month in Langley Park. The victim is 15-year-old Nelson Ramos of Takoma Park.


The Takoma Park Police Department has announced that David Hall Dixon, a member of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, has been arrested and charged with two counts of second degree murder and two counts of use of a handgun in commission of a felony. Dixon shot and killed Dominique Williams (32), and James Johnson (38) on Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the Takoma Overlook Condominiums located at 7333 New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park.  He told police that he saw the victims attempting to breaking into a vehicle .

The victims were shot while attempting to drive away from the scene. He is also being charged with attempted second degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony assault against Michael Thomas (36), the driver of the vehicle Dixon shot into.


Mobile Market Food Distribution Today at Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus

Montgomery College will be hosting a contactless food distribution event today from 2-4PM at their Takoma Park Campus located at 7600 Takoma Avenue.


The first Feed the Fridge in Maryland is coming to 7315 New Hampshire Ave in Takoma Park this Friday. Feed the Fridge, started by Medium Rare’s, Mark Bucher,  places refrigerators in local communities and pays area restaurants to stock them daily with fresh meals.
